I may take gh1's advice and sit in the corner and drink beer. I've only been playing for about a year. The problem is I started 35 years ago.

I hogged the whole time checking out your guitars. After you dropped me at the bus station, I slapped myself in the head and said "Stupid! You should have had him play Classical Gas!!!". The mexicans standing around were pretty amused. By the way, I made it home with no problems. Thanks for your help.

It's the part where the orchestra would cover me if I had one. It was a pleasure meeting you and I played your CD on the way up and back from McCall. Really enjoyed it.

He is flexible and willing to follow where you lead. Kept up with the poor man's version of Take Five until I took it to 4/4... August 19th is looking promising!

Too bad we both had to travel across the country to find time to sit down and play together (while trying to overcome sleep deprivation). Hope you can make it. Mark, I also enjoyed meeting you finally, and your wife (hope I didn't mess up her exercise schedule too much). It was a wonderful break in a very long hot weekend journey, and a fun ride in the Boxer. Thanks again for that. You've got a very nice selection of geetars! Great 1537! Everytime I play one of these I'm amazed that they all sound so different, yet they all sound fantastic. To me they're the perfect example of the 'Ovation' sound. Bright and warm at the same time. I'm now home and excessively happy with my new bike. My only regret is that between getting up to leave for PDX at 2:30 am and not getting out of Twin Falls until 4pm, I wasn't able to make it to Hermiston to visit and spend the night with Jeff. I look forward to meeting him at NWOFC. Fillhixx - have you talked your wife into going fabric shopping yet? Mine will be very disappointed if she doesn't get to participate in that!

If anyone knows the way to the nearest fabric stores, she will likely be unstopable. On playing, I must admit, I almost never 'jam' per se. I play backup when asked and will try to follow anything. (though HATE Andrew Lloyd Webber after playing his personally arranged excerps from Cats) For the most part I play obscure originals, my own and others. Mostly country/rock/folk flavoured. Will bring my no-name bass to hold down the bottom end and some small percussion....watever fits around the beer

This could be an interesting jam if everyone except me does his or her own compositions. I don't know much of anything more recent than the 70's.

I don't get a lot of opportunities to sit down and play with other guitarists, but my hands remember many songs my brain has forgotten. And if I don't know it, I'll catch up with you within a few measures.

I would love to come back after my mom's birthday party, but I'll bet by then it would be into the punk rock phase and the neighbors will be calling the cops. Cat Stevens would be fine. I used to know a few of his, so maybe my fingers will remember, but I doubt it. If I learn one "new" oldie, it will be more than worth it.

Maybe a list of songs we'll be murdering would be in order? eg: Perfect - Fairground Attraction: E A B Dbm (&1 Abm) Hungry Heart - B. Springsteen: C Am F G Lone Palm - Buffet: G (and too many more to list) and the like? (edited after Marks input)

I don't recognize any of fillhixx's songs, though. The Boss is my wife. And what are those letters after the songs? Knowing what key something is in doesn't mean that I know what chords to play. Maybe this is why nobody ever invites me to a jam session.

By the way, what are the chords in the middle of that song? Then you guys can teach me the solo and I'll have finished learning a song I started in 1973.

Seriously, though, should we bring goodies of any type (other than the aforementioned bread I've been required to supply). For beverages -- yeah, bring those to share -- mix and match style. I'll have a big a$$ cooler full of ice we can stash 'em in. I'll get some cases of PBR, soda, and water, and at least a few Molsons for Mark. For food -- well, at first i thought i'd just grill up some wings, and kabobs, put together a couple of salads and call it good. But that was back when i thought there would be about seven to ten. As it grows, and that's a good thing, i'm not sure i could keep up. Let's wait until we get a better idea of the head count. I'm thinking by the 7th of August most folks will know if they can make or not, and we can take a poll. Even if there are a couple still on the fence i doubt that will effect any planning. From there we might be in a better postion to formulate a plan. Anyway, that's my thinking on it at this point. _____ gh1
