Like when I am talking to a nice young woman and she sez, "You remind me of my Father." That'll bust your bubble. Edited by Old Man Arthur 2015-06-22 12:21 AM

Man, what a great time, thanks to everyone who came out, especially those that drove long distances, it wouldn't have been the same without you. Sara (no 'h') and I had a fabulous time. There were so many great things, I don't know where to start. I suppose I'll start with the very first cool thing. My oldest son Nick came up from California to join in the festivities and hang for Father's day weekend, THEN.... The Marks stopped by Friday late afternoon and dropped off their guitars. This meant I had an entire evening with 2... YES TWO Adamas slotheads at my disposal. I went through 3 bottles of wine and was up till 3am playing them both, but I gotta say, Elgin Acres' OSH probably had the lion's share of my time. Gentlemen, if your girls seem somewhat violated, I'm not sorry. Thanks again, that was a very special way for me to start the weekend. Saturday had too many things for me to remember. Phil, you may think the beer was flowing minimally, but My wine glass was never empty (when I could find it). The chance to play all the guitars was great, but seeing all of you again, and meeting you new folks is what I dug on most. Chris busted out that electric fiddle and LET ME TELL YOU, he could steal that golden fiddle right away from Johnny's feet. Miles was rockin' hard, Phil was singing his wonderfully catchy tunes, and and and and... I was having so much fun, I never got around to doing anything I had planned on doing. I bought a new Nikon so we could do some red blanket shots, and I hardly ever had the camera (Thanks to Nick and Sara for clicking it some in my absence). I also wanted to do some string changes for anyone who wanted to learn, as well as discussing live sound, mixing, and whatever. None of that ever happened. I was having way too much fun. I held the camera for the first 10 minutes of the day, after that my son Nick and the ever so lovely Sara were the responsible parties. Again, thanks all for the great times, here's some pics...

The Marks made it back to Boise by 4 for Father's Day dinner and the other Mark headed further down the road so he could make it back to Denver today. We didn't have to worry about keeping each other awake. We talked for 8 hours straight each way. Sorry we ate all the potato chips that Linda intended for the party, but there was plenty of other great food. I left stuffed. Someone commented about me sitting in front of a bunch of Adamas guitars playing an Academy. Did anyone take a picture. It's amazing what Ovation could do with plastic. That thing sounds great. I noticed that I'm holding a beer in every picture of me. I did hold more guitars than beers that day. One of Damon's pictures shows me admiring Miles' Ultra GS. I thought I had seen every version of those, but don't remember seeing a sunburst before. What a gorgeous paint job on an inexpensive guitar. Great examples of what Ovation can do from top to bottom. I hope Patch can use some of the pictures of the 5 guitars in the rack. Those are some rare models, from the original slothead to the green nylon string Viper. In addition to meeting up with all the great Ovation folks, I got to spend a little time with my daughter and her fiancée and meet his dad. It was a wonderful Father's Day weekend.

Actually the music....or checkyour email for a potencial aquatic hat transfer.....For M.Woody I'll try to post cello pictures on the bottom feeding luthery section. Talking whittling and building with Mike was one of the high points of the gathering for me. As a special request though, Kansas has called and requested that any footage of me and Elgin Acres trying to remember Dust in the Wind stay archived or entombed.

I am in the process of finally slowly moving into our retirement home and had my old internet turned off and the new turned on. I saw that I had your message waiting but got sidetracked and didn't actually get around to reading it until Thursday evening.

I'm in no position to play host, but would love to meet some folks. Good on all y'all for getting together and making it work!

What model is the light colored cutaway I'm standing next to in this picture? I picked it up for a minute early on and really liked the tone.

It was a beautiful guitar, one of the better looking one's they've put out. I didn't play it, too many slotheads in the vicinity.

I don't know why the Artisan guitar ad says 2010, because I'm sure it's actually a 2011 2078 Limited Edition with Adirondack Spruce top. They did 50. You guys should have played it more. It needs to open up more. If I'd have known they were going to do the last limited edition Legend in sunburst with a deep bowl in 2012, I probably wouldn't have bought that one. Some other nice features are the walnut binding with a checkered pattern and walnut fretboard like the 1537s. Al might still have a new one. Give him a call.

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 12759 Location: Boise, Idaho | I should have done my research first. It looks like they did come out in 2010 and a few OFCers like StandingOvation got one. He posted back then that there were only 25 made for the US. There was another guy in Boise that had 2 of them and was trying to sell one after I got mine. The odds of having 3 limited editions of anything in Boise have to be small. I think I got mine in 2011 or maybe late 2010. I was selling guitars in early 2010, not buying.
