Bummer too, 'cause I was looking forward to trying out the Ute (like you said before, it's not the company I'm going for either :D ). Now that I have my calendar correct, I should be all set. Still no word on exact date for my custom 12, but I'm still hoping. I will have a Tacoma Roadking dreadnought-style 6-string to bring along, just for kicks. After all, even in the OFC, if it's a Northwest get-together, a Tacoma should be welcome...right?

Be sure to request a room in the "quiet zone", there is a hipster bar (Doug Fir) associated with it that goes until the wee hours. It is on Burnside - East Side and about 5-10 mins from the Gathering. Here is a listing of fabric shops. However one of the best, so i'm told, The Whole Nine Yards, is no longer at the location listed. It is instead now on Burnside East Side too. About a half a mile away from the Jupiter Hotel. OK then, i hope that is useful. _____ gh1

That part of town has changed a lot since my high school days. That's pretty good list, Greg. The ladies out to be able to lay out a route to hit most of them without getting lost.

Not sure how comprehensive it is, but it is a start. (i recall you specified B&B as well) _____ gh1

Availability depends on the convention(s) going on at the time. I guess i recalled the request for kind of "off the beaten path" accomodations. Gh1, you're not far from downtown, right? We're not actually accustomed to our dollar being anywhere near par with greenbacks. (at least not since I was travelling Europe in the 70's) I'm a bit of a connoisseur of 'no star' hotels. Small old family run places. Where they know they're number two but try to smell like number one. After all, it's just a place to sleep and odds are I may be drunk by the time I get there.

There are cheaper hotels but they are mostly closer to the airport. There's also a Days Inn in downtown Portland near PSU.. cheap, but it's a bed and a shower. Anywhere in the downtown I-405/I-5 "loop" would be relatively close to the party, as well as hotels near the I-5/I-84 interchange (Convention Center/Lloyd Center) Waskel, what's that hotel right there at the "end" of NW 23rd right near the freeway onramp?
