You seem to just assume too many things in your backhand comments, and honestly it's starting too irritate me.
Wow Miles, I think I am beginning to see the light!

Sorry for the offense!

I live in a red state but that's as far as the resemblance goes...I voted no along with the republicans. ;)

OK, so I think I finally understand. As a diverse group of individuals we have to communicate using the lowest common denominator; or as a Network Engineer would say, the lowest common protocol or layer of the OSI model.

Which I am guessing is fart noises. :D (rim shot)

If I wanted to deal with a bunch of political crap, I would still be on church staff... :)

Al and Miles have done a VERY good job of saving us from ourselves and keeping this a pleasant place to come, relax, read, laugh, think and from time to time even help each other.

Just do the music...and the occasional fart joke :)

Am I the only one that noticed Sammy and Sasha's matching T's????

Yeah, I noticed them.
They reminded me that I've been needing to get the pads on my brakes looked at . . .

I live in a Green, White and Blue state. The lower mountains and plains are a beautiful green. The mountain tops are still covered in white. The water in the Sound and many lakes, resovoirs and fjords are varying shades of blue.

Those are the only colors that matter.

Normally, I hate being in the majority, but not this time. I found this forum doing research on Ovation guitars, of all things, and have found it to be an almost daily source of amusement and information since. I frankly don't need to hear any of your opinions on politics or religion and you don't need mine. I get enough of that in unsolicited emails.

Brian I hate to see you get miffed and leave for any reason. With that said; I have to say I applaud your general conviction concerning your feelings about the way some threads are nixed. Let me repeat that, kinda... I agree that there are times when the actions of the moderators on many web sites need to be protested. I also know you were not the guy who started the thread in question. But it is a fact that each of us has our own opinions and we are all guilty of some discretion of overstepping a boundry or two, at some time in the past, while voicing our thoughts about some post we most likly had no reason to get invloved in to begin with. I know I have, more than once... And this can easily get out of hand. This group is better than most. I'd say???
I have not voted it seems to me the outcome does not really matter...... Does it???
This is a web site that was created by two guy's who had a like for an instrument company and they did not sell stock to make this some sort of a half-assed, wacky, guitarists, stock holders democracy. I say Miles and Al have done a fantastic job at keeping this thing alive and well. And I am sure you do to....I hope no one thinks your totally against what Al & Miles are doing here. Sometimes these mistakes in translation can become a fact in the readers head.
So back to the topic (and that's all this is...a topic) It does not add much to the love of Ovations if your a Bush Fan or if you want to see him Burn....Now does it really??? Nope.
So my hope is, that this site remains as it is and is monitored much the same as it has been so far. These guy's have enough to deal with than the constant monitoring of this site simply because they allow the almost perfect catylist for bad feelings or open forum rivalries and nasty comments or people who are offended because of the age of those who visit here (young) or personal beliefs......and that is.... Politics, Religion, and Sexually explicit messages...
Now I personally think there were at least three specific posts that I made that should have been edited just because of my use of the nasty language. I get fairly ticked at times and I'd have to say these guy's really showed some tolerance for the verbal abuse I let spew.... and also recieved. I trust them to decide what they want. As I see it it is their Site. That says it all for me..
When I was younger and into my teenage, opinionated, years......I remember my Father saying; "we don't talk about politics or religion at the dinner table. It tends to ruin the conversations, at the least, and at most it can ruin good friendships, or My Go&&am Dinner! and then he went on to explain.... "In case you didn't know it I am still the one in this family buying the dinners" Get it... I did....
So for what little that may be worth please don't piss off any friends or family here I still like the dinner that's being provided. And I don't say that just to you Brian......that's for us all including myself.
Now.... you'll have to see Cliff or Al or any of the guy's from Jersey about the armpit noises. I'm a NYS boy and we never were good a getting the chicks using that technique! We would just play guitar when we were on stage.

And Brian... don't worry about the lack of support either. You have to figure at least half of us are sucking up to Al or Miles to try and get a better deal on another guitar. Now that's funny right there!

A couple of things 1. Armpit noise why, when one can pull the finger of someones Grandfather and have the real thing. 2 Red and blue states I live in the state of confusion, and I'm happy. When I'm feeling blue I just breathe.

I think the question was well worth asking and the responses, regardless of pro/con are welcomed.

I visit two other chat sites regularly; one is a Canadian political chat site. I don't think I'd want to meet anyone from the political chat site here, nor they me...if they're guitar players. (if anyone from that site is here and we recognize each others sig or style, I'm sure we ignore the situation.) I don't take my music issues there and I don't want to discuss my politics here.

I also don't s**t where I eat. It just makes sense.
.......................................
And I don't need an armpit to make fart noises...the real thing works whenever I need it. On pitch and with the beat.

We are living in a uniquely challenging time. It is understandable in a democracy that we would struggle to make sense and ultimately form a coherent policy given the nature of our troubles. I am not surprised to see political passions heat up. That's understandable. I'm sure that everyone here who is inclined to toss in a political comment, and particularly those who are really energized by their political views, will find ample opportunities to voice those views in a more appropriate place.

Paul Begalla said it pretty well: As an exercise, try to form a coherent argument for the "other side". If you find that you can not, then you are probably getting a little over the edge. I firmly believe that we should start from the position that EVERYONE is acting from good and noble intentions. As a nation (apologies to our non-US readers) we have a lot of tough decisions to make over the next few years. It will be better for all of us if we listen to each other a little more, and hate each other a lot less.

With that in mind, I really hope this forum remains a sanctuary, away from all the troubles of the day. It is a pleasure to be able to escape into the world of guitars from time to time.

Omaha, you nailed it with the word sanctuary.. music -- and this community -- is the place I come to when I want to escape from work, politics, the evening news, and screaming 2-year-olds.

I haven't bothered reading this thread, but I've read the threads that have lead up to it.

I think this forum does what it does and does it better than any other.

If you want this forum to be something else, go somewhere else or create something else.

There are other vessels for other forums.

Get over it.

My hat off to Miles and Al for sticking to their guns and standing firm.

Written with utmost respect for all members points of view.

I think the point was Eclipsed by the Storm brewing. Do think it's a Hurricane or just a Tornado? Has anyone else witnessed the Thunderhead?

This is what happens when you are no longer a Breadwinner. Maybe I should visit a Preacher... uh... oh... may have to slap my own wrist for that.
