Oh... and... "what straight non-screwed-the-head person actually WANTS to go see Tommy Lee in concert?"

ME!!! I'm sorry, but anyone who plays a full kit, 20 feet above the stage that's spinning and rotating and doesn't throw-up or miss a beat, is ok with me.

Miles, I didn't mean he isn't talented...I would just rather not be that close to someone with that many...issues(?). He just disturbs me, and not in a good way...

Have seen about twenty minutes of three or four shows?? THe people they have doing the auditioning are interesting and I give them credit for their efforts. I do not find the show keeps me entertained for long. It usually reminds me I have a difficult part of a bass line or guitar piece I need to go work on and that is what I do. Navaro with his little devil beard is an ASS CLOWN......he reminds me of a guy I was in a band with a long time ago. He was a coke'r (for show) and a drunk (because he was) and a perfect ASS all the time. Girls loved him though. Ohh how they love to be used....and abused...never understood it....we played together for about 4 months, then it all fell apart, Thank God! I should-a knocked that big basketball head of his through the wall back then. Navaro reminds me that chances only come round once. I hope he gets a herpie right on the middle of his big basketball forehead!!!!

Dilana is a trainwreck. Yuck! You can see her inability to get along with anyone. If Dilana wins we can start wagering on how long the first tour lasts before the group disbands. I find most of the "love" between the contestants to look fake and poorly acted. You know, when someone refers to their "family" as they look upon the snarling competition. I'm a little surprised by what I perceive as a strong Lesbian cloud over several of the female singers who have come and gone on the show, not that there's anything wrong with that, but not what I would picture as a possibility to front these guys. I was surprised when this show began because the previous year's INXS was a ratings disaster. It's not great television-- ok, it's not even good television -- but it isn't any worse than any other reality crapola. Brooke our hostess has the real talent. The Dave Navarro worship is interesting. Terms like great and talented get thrown around without any meaning whatsoever. I love the way they tell the outgoing contestant how incredible they are. Very tacky show, but why not? The houseband has really rocked on some classic tunes.

As many different topics as there are posters, in my experience. You may not have reality TV shows in england...I don't think a government run broadcaster would do anything like that. Either too much artsy fartsy taste, or not enough love of the bottom line.

They're cheap and nasty tv shows where, instead of expensive talent, you have free volunteer gonzos who will humiliate themselves in any way neccessary to gain their 15 minutes of fame. Only one of the participants, the winner, ever gets paid.

A million dollar prize, once per season, instead of $100,000 per episode per major cast member. and it has a reasonable audience. You do the math...

I do have TiVo, and started recording the Rockstar shows, and watch at my convenience.

I think the House Band really rocks.

Earlier I predicted that the winner would be either Dilana or Magni. Currently I predict the winner will be Toby.

I don't particularly like Tommy Lee, but he has not diminished the show for me.

I like all the Gibson guitars featured, they must have some kind of "brand placement" contract with the show. Also they recently did a segment at the Gibson showcase in L.A.

Ryan, who was dismissed, threw a $3000 USD Gibson Les Paul Custom during one performance. Dave Navarro dared someone to do it, then when Ryan threw the guitar, Navarro said "that was expensive to do". No kidding, Dave, you asked for it. Made me almost cry, I'd love to have that guitar (pre-breakage), it would be a keeper. Yes I like Gibsons!

I find myself liking the show, I wonder if there will be a "Season 3" of it.

(edit): And, I wonder how Dilana hurt her leg?

DILANA is a true, authentic talent. Effed up, but aren't most lead singers in rock? I don't think her voice is amazing, but it's got character, range, and she is a natural front woman. She gave really good, captivating performances each and every time for a good portion of the episodes (until recently). She's an authentic rocker...she lives it, and not as a part time lifestyle. Frankly, with all her exposure on the show, I think she's purposely blowing it as to persue a solo career. She doesn't need Supernova at this point. I think she is the best choice for this particular band, but I think Toby is the front runner in the band's eyes. Dilana can pull off different styles of rock songs, and engage the audience each time.

MAGNI is a good singer, but REALLY boring. He sings everything the same way and it gets old. Again, his voice isn't amazing, it's just good. There's nothing really unique about him. (YAWN)

LUKAS is an interesting personality and captivating to watch, but it's not an authentic performance. He's trying too hard, and he's not the best singer. He's passionate though. I think he would limit the commercial viability of what the band is going for.

TOBY. Hmmm. From the first episode I thought he would win, though I personally find his voice one dimensional. He's got a range, a good rock style voice, and really engages the audience. His original song was fun.

TOMMY is the Paula Abdul of this competition (YAWN). When it comes to saying anything of value he's wasting everyone's time. I enjoy his drumming, but could care less about the drum solo antics.

GILBY and JASON seem like decent guys. So their careers were on hold, and now they are more known. YAY.

I don't consider music competitions as reality TV in the same way as the OSBOURNES or stuff like that. As commercially pathetic and contrived as IDOL and ROCKSTAR may be, they're opening up the ears of the general public and making them listen more carefully to music. Everyone's a freakin' couch music critic now...and it makes for interesting chat around the water cooler, as non musicians now participate. For me, it's better than someone flapping his lips about last night's game, and it certainly is better than Star Search ever was. Should Ed replace Dave?

Nice summary Johnny.

Your thoughts on Dilana are very similar to what many have written about Storm.....so feel that she actually pulled out of the competition because of other more "interesting" offers.

Time will tell. I enjoy the show and look forward to next weeks finale.

And to add to what Johnny said... good bad or indifferent (we all have opinions) there is ROCK MUSIC on PRIME TIME TV for at least 2 hours each week.

As for the talent, I really can't say much. They are doing their thing to an INTERNATIONAL audience. If you look at the message boards, they each have huge numbers of fans that are totally smitten to the point that most like "their" artist more than any of the SuperNova guys. Storm will be on the Ellen show monday, and I'm sure the others will get tons of press also. Their doing what they love, and getting paid for it. Hard to knock it.

That they chose Lukas was a surprise, I didn't see that coming.

I hope they all do well. SN will touring with the House Band. If I went to their concert I would be going to hear the House Band. :D

For me, Lucas's movement and stage act got old very quickly. He was visually exciting but after a few performances you had seen all the moves. I also thought that although I liked his voice, it was the least versatle of the remaining three. His version of the SN original was nowhere near as good as Toby's for the same song. Plus like Al mentioned earlier, Lucas was too goth for the music that SN appears to be writing.

Dalana's stage performances were always varied and fun to watch and I think she could have been entertaining over 90 minutes. I think what ultimately killed her was that she got totally toasted and had to be carried out during the Vegas trip and the fact that Gilby did not care for her song writing.....also, I don't know if the band ever really "seriously" considered a woman to front the band.

I thought Toby was the crowd favorite and definately agreed with Jason's comments that his vocals were the only ones that consistently cut through the music. He was my personal favorite of the three finalists with Dalana 2nd and Lucas 3rd.
