I've been very distracted the last two weeks, so I ordered without really looking at the artist list. And HOLY CRAP! I'm on it!

After listening to the samples, I was pretty certain I had really embarrassed myself with my submission. Mine was a live recording of a solo I did several years ago ('04 I think). So not only does it fit in the "simple" end of the spectrum, but I had nothing to do about the mix either.

However, since I do not have access to recording equipment, nor do I have a working knowledge of said gear  , I doubt I will be able to contribute much else in the future.

So thanks for using it this time guys. I can't wait to hear it!

I knew there was a reason!
UPS just came and my wife has just gone to the store. I'm thinking this is PERFECT, The new Tak can come in an slide in with the rest and she'll never know. Great timing. It was only the box of pickups and strings. Guitar will come later. Oh well..............

Slip, Stephen hasn't HEARD his intro yet !!!

That was me. I asked him "do you mind if I ditch your original intro and do a little something else?" I had been listening to some Be Bop Deluxe and wanted to give it a try.

True, MixmasterDW Dave took my "summertime" by Mungo Jerry beginning and decided to expand and improve upon it.

and Dave, unless you changed it again, you did send it to me for "approval" so I heard at least a version of it (if not the final one).

I'm still partial to the megaphone......

Fun stuff and just another example of collaboration between members.

I've been using that MungoJerry tune as an "opener" for all my gigs this Summer.

I do it real "thump-y" with the AdamasLongNeck.

Gets everybody's "attention" . . . .

just got done listening to the CD

I was surprised to see it on Mr. Big records. I have been cultivating a yoko ono comback and reserving my label for the various yoko cover bands I have strategically placed around the world.

I digress

anyway it never ceases to amaze me the amount of talent we have here. the cd would never make it alone since it has such a diverse sound

just in general one tune reminded me of springsteen, another jefferson airplane, another the ventures, another ravi shankar etc etc etc.

great stuff guys!!!!!

maybe next time around

naaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

Yeah....I got a real chuckle out of the "Mr. Big Records" and the fact that it looked so damn official!

I thought Cliff really had it going on with that 60's vibe of early Tull or Barclay James Harvest.

I am really amazed by the results! First of all, a great concept and package, Dave (love the intro). Then, despite all the other good stuff, this is testimony that us OFCers can play, in all sorts of styles! The recording quality of most (except mine, alas) was stellar. Five stars. At the moment my personal fave is the "Theme from an Imaginary Spaghetti Western"... I might be wrong, but that tune has a sense of humor!

Quick update: I've shipped about 60 cds. All orders are shipped except for a few that came in today and one large batch order. Those should go out Saturday. Dave

". . 60's vibe of early Tull or Barclay James Harvest . ."

y'know, . . I also got (from a co-worker - that he - and his wife) "loved the song" but didn't like the "70's "flute-sound" . . .

Mebbe I was going too much "Fogelberg/Weissberg" . . . .

Like Robin Williams said:

screw 'em. I loved the vibe of the song and the flute fit perfectly.

Hell, they probably like "the feelies".

I got my copy in the mail today and holy smokes is there a lot of talent in our little club here. But I guess I already knew that from Vols. 1 and 2. Once again I feel so lucky to have been able to put something together that maybe is OK enough to bring a bit of credit to the great group of people who frequent this electronic community center and clubhouse. I also hope that some of the folks over on some of the other boards get wind of this and give it a listen. Not just because it shows the great sounds Ovations can produce, but more so they can get a flavor for the broad cross section of the music world where Ovations are played by real people. It's a really fun collection of songs.

Mr. Witko: Kudos for the engineering of the final disc. I can only imagine the varied media you got from everyone, especially those of us who have a dead engineering gene. Excellent job balancing the mix. Secondly, the ordering of the songs and orchestrating this highly eclectic mix of music is magnificent. Thank you. A Lot.

Cliff, as always, a great job translating the flavor of the music into a picture worth more than a thousand words. You have a unique talent and I applaud your contribution to the production of the disc.

I've listened to the whole CD through about three times now. Every song is so good in its own way ... I guess every song speaks to me in one way or another. Sometimes it's the music, sometimes it's the person behind the song. Some of you need to identify yourselves ... many names I'm familiar with because they are the screen names, but some don't match. Who is who? Me? I'm surfbobbo.

I also did a little sittin' in on my son's track. I didn't mean for it to be on the CD because it's real rough and it was a one take deal, but it ended up on. Dane hates the song. Or so he says. But for me it's special because it got recorded right as he was getting ready to go back for his second tour in Iraq, back when it was at its hairiest and the "surge" was just getting underway. I believe Max was part of the deal and in the mix, and Dane said "Dad I want to record this song I wrote". We hastily set up the studio, and in many ways got many parts wrong, and went through the tune a couple of times and then hit record. One time. Then a track with the eggz got stuck on and the deal was done. What you hear is what you get. For me, it's priceless. And it's on the disc because of something Matt Smith told me and Max. He told us to leave something behind so that future generations can know what we were all about. It may be rough and surely there are places where it could be improved in so many ways, but it doesn't get any better than this.

The CD was put together, and my own tune recorded, right in the mist of my windoze to Mac transition (the best thing I ever did by the way), and in the process I didn't go a real good job keepng track of all the liner note details. Sorry about that, I know a lot of you sent me very detailed descriptions. But maybe we can recreate some of that here by the various artists describing what guitars they used, etc. I'll go first ...

Acoustic guitars: Tak EF417 mic'd with an Otari and also run straight to the board. Tak TF430 Cool Tube to the board

Electric guitar: '62 Tele. Bass guitar: Typhoon

Piano: Korg 05RW. Organ & Acordian: Alesis QSR.

Drums: Half electronic Alesis D4. Half acoustic Remo/Pearl kit

Effects: Alesis midi verb (instruments). Alesis microverb (vocals)

DAW: Started on Sonar Home Studio, finished on Apple Logic Express

Mine arrived today weighted down by the koa buttons. Maybe listen to it tomorrow, we're down to one car for a little while and that's where the cd player is.
Love the record lable. That has to have a much longer life than just this CD.
