It looks like the 30th Anniversaries that Al has are deep bowls where the last of the production 1581s are mid bowls. The deep should have more bass at least. I already have all of the 30th Anniversary Ovations I can justify, but these should be on a par with the others, which were excellent.

Al, can you confirm whether they are deep bowls or contour bowls or mid-bowls? I'm confused… as usual…

He said deep. The 30th Anniversaries were deep bowls. We've got off track, as usual, by talking about the production 1581s, which are mids. The deep bowls should be as boomy as any of the early Adamas models.

The World’s Most Advanced Acoustic Guitar

Representing the ultimate craftsmanship from Ovation’s flagship workshop in New Hartford, Connecticut, the Adamas 1581 features a black carbon-fiber suspended soundboard with Adamas fan bracing and bass-string soundholes, and a classic Deep cutaway composite body. The 5-piece mahogany/maple neck has a resin-impreganted Walnut fretboard, and Original Adamas II Design Maple fret inlays. The Adamas 1581 sports Ovation’s Original Patented pickup and Stereo FET preamp.

The Mid-Depth bowl blends elements of Ovation’s Super-Shallow and Deep Bowl designs. Acoustically, the Mid-Depth bowl delivers impressive projection and rich tone, yet even smaller guitarists find it comfortable to hold and play. It’s no surprise Ovation’s LX, AX, and TX models all feature a Mid-Depth body: Its proprietary Lyrachord construction and roundback design let it outperform typical “box” guitars. For decades, hardworking musicians have relied on Mid-Depth Ovation guitars to cut through the mix, whether played acoustically in a living room or run through a concert hall sound system.

Designed to reduce hum and line noise, the Stereo FET preamp delivers stunning stereo output, and waist-mounted individual volume and tone controls are quick and easy to adjust while performing. A contemporary version of the electronics that launched the Adamas acoustic/electric line in 1979, the Stereo FET preamp is an Ovation classic.

since the mid bowl as basically become the standard I always seem to call it deep the only true deep bowl is the Al D model and that is only 1/2 inch larger so what is the real difference in sound?
not much IMHO
YMMV

Just got the word that these guitars will be shipping soon.

I also got confirmation that the Adamas line is morphing into a custom shop and the 2 walnut knob guitars will not be produced any longer.

the end of an era........

you know how to get in touch with me.

OMG! Somebody is making money!!! Damn them! Damn those evil capitalists!!!

Ovation is making more money, and the New Hartford craftsmen are still employed, making better guitars than ever. Sounds like a winning situation to me.

The 2 knobbers went away before and the world did not end. They are really cool as nostalga but are not the way of the future.

Now, having said that, I'm glad I've got 2 2 knobber guitars with the modern electronics in them (OFC slothead and 1537) as I do think they are cool and the electronics in them are really all I need for my limited plugged in playing.....

One on the bass side and a half on the cutaway side ?

The 1581 anniversary edition reissues were released in 2005 with a bass side epaulet only configuration. Since then, I've seen new models with double epaulets. Is it possible that only the anniversary editions were single epaulet?

what color are these? My blue one is my favorite Adamas (I even like it better than my 08 Collectors!) This is an incredible guitar, and if you were EVER thinking of getting a textured-top Adamas, this is your chance to have one of the best for the price of a used one! Do what you must, but grab one of these guitars! I have never heard a guitar that puts out as strong of a bottom end as this guitar.
