I hope everything will turn out into a happy ending for you and the Fud :( I am wondering if I should lower the stringtension on mine as long as it's resting in the case.

The MS put an oversize bridge on it last time. I'm not buying the sauna theory, she spent 2 years in Hawaii at better than 80% humidity and two summers in Virginia. Did you put heaver strings on it than the Elixir mediums that were on it?

The meds really sound great on the FUD. Jack, Thanx! That's very reassuring. Meuti, Apparently my FUD has had issues all along. A new top should take care of that. So, just keep yours in normal tuning, enjoy and forget you saw this post! ![]()

But I AM heartbroken for you. I know how that feels, after having lost my Gibson all those years ago. It still hurts! But at least with yours you know you can get it fixed up better than new. I hope the nightmares subside very soon and you're back to feeling good again.

Just a stupid question though, did you put the ToneRite on that one Johnny? Do you think.....?

A few builders (notably Lowden) seem to have exceptional luck and skill with cedar tops but most small builders have gotten away from cedar tops due to warranty issues.
