Dave, While I do respect your opinion and see/understand where you are comming from, I just don't feel he had the right to judge the OFC after not posting for 7-8 month.

Some of the same people he talks about as Flag wavers and God-botherers I consider friends. These same people Know I am NOT a God botherer and even though I Love this country and am humbled by what our service men/women have done and still do, I am not a flag waver either.
BUT, I respect thoughs that are. :)

I love the fact that this site offers opportunities to have online conversations with members from "other" countries and there are still quite a few.

Yes the "old corner pub" has changed alot. I've been here for 2 years and I've seen some drastic change in the membership. I've been accepted by some of the patrons of the old corner pub and others, hmmm, don't know.

The point was, hey, don't judge if you haven't participated recently.

Now a quick thanks again to Al & Miles for putting up with us and an apology to Johnny for stealing his topic to voice my opinion. :)

Everybody here is a lot more sensitive then they used to be and it's starting to become annoying.

Shroeder's a liberal and I'm a conservative. A lot of my best friends here are liberals. We disagree, tell each other to f*%k off and go have a beer together.

No big deal.

Why does everybody here want to take everything so freakin' personally? Even tho' they're some of my best friends, I never worry about what liberals are saying. I accept them for the goofy people they are.

But now it's the conservatives on the board who are driving me nuts.

Maybe my mother was wrong when she said that sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you.

I have loved and participated in this place for the last 7 1/2 years. Longer than the vast majority of you guys. And you're starting to piss me off. Grow up and develop some thicker skin. We're here to discuss guitars. Not be patriotic or not patriotic, not to be religous or not be religious. Just don't fuckin' go there!

You want to have discussion like that, go to the ning site. Not here.

Click.

This is a public forum, so just because someone doesn't post doesn't mean they don't monitor the board and can offer a valid opinion whenever they see fit.

From PM's and emails I have received of late it would appear there are a proportion of the current regular posters who have driven away many of those who actually had something valid or informative or (shock, horror!)contentious or humourous to contribute in the past.

I would suggest that part of the reason those members no longer bother to participate is because the OFC is turning into a self-congratulatory, politically-correct wank-fest populated by a bunch of terminally boring, talentless yet incredibly opinionated wannabes, who have very little of value to say, but insist on saying it way too loud and way too often.

Just my little contribution to the "Hive Mind" And I didn't even say "fuck" once in that post.

Wow, I've never been called a self-congratulatory, politically-correct, terminally boring, talentless yet incredibly opinionated wannabe before. I thought I was just a woman who liked to play guitar and who enjoys talking to others who love guitars. I guess you learn something new every day.

I've laid fairly low since the hi-jack and can truly appreciate Dave's post! I'm also glad that this has turned out to be a discussion as opposed to further attacks.

I'm sure (in some cases, I know!) I've ticked off some members, old and new. And I paid the appropriate 'penalties' for testing the boundaries (OK, there was that one 'suicide' post!). But whether I'm in the penalty box or on the ice, most know my 'number'. To me, that does not diminish the value nor my appreciation of this site.

The bottom line is that there has not been one 'O' gathering I've attended that required any ID, voter card, DD214, visa, etc. Guess what? Had a blast at each one and thoroughly enjoyed meeting and/or revisiting the folk behind OFC monikers.

Just as with guitars, there are many 'flavors' of people too! They can be picked, plucked, strummed, wailed on and in some circumstances, just put back in the case...

Ooops, I guess I took too long type my post...

Depends, ya wanna be a queen, worker or drone?

Most would classify me as a 'drone'...

Yep , I admit I'm talentless compared to a lot of you on this forum,BUT, I enjoy Ovations and the members on this forum. I don't judge those that are here on a regular basis. If my post defending the OFC & members makes me thin skinned and/or a wanker then so be it, Thats your opinion and I respect your rights to think that way. :) Have a wonderful day!

Try the weed. Makes the cheese taste even better.

ADD: I just want to say that essentially telling someone who has over 4000 posts to butt out raises my hackles. Then again, we watched the dude stare down death so I don't think this bothers him in the least.

Some things that I have thought about posting have already been said so I'll +1 and you can figure out which ones.

I will say this; I like this forum because it allows,(Thanks To Al & Miles), a bit more freedom to allow us to have a little fun and learn a little more about Ovations and guitars in general without slapping our wrists that we put something in the wrong category.. I have met some incredibly talented and wonderful people along the way.

BTW: Johnny you Air force guys were always a little pushy. :D :D :D

OK, now I'm scared about what little mind I have left. I was going to ask Dave if "cheese" is what they call "weed" these days. Channeling Bobbo AND Waskel can't be good...

Geez, is someone going to have to bring out the Slipkid Manifesto again?

Seriously, I didn't realize that I had to be a foul mouthed, steadily gigging guitarist with the skill level of Glen Campbell in order to post here. ;) Or to have something to contribute for that matter.

I guess I'll have to take my talentless and boring guitar player wanna be self (and my newbie questions) elsewhere.

Michelle
