SWMBO wasn't as interested as I thought she'd be (I think she has this fairly reasonable fear that meetings with this group always cause additional guitar purchases), so I might be batching it. Depending on the date, I could make it a 2 day scenic drive each way or a one day balls out drive. Probably go fast one way and slow the other. There's great country between here and there through Eastern Idaho, Tetons, Yellowstone, Northern Wyoming and into the Black Hills.

Headed to the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop for a week in August. Two years in a row may be pushing it a bit. But i have a year to "buy" some points and cook up a plan. I'll keep it in mind! Can we take the Porsche :) _____ gh1

I haven't spent that much time driving across Idaho and Wyoming since we did it in our 71 VW Bus.

Prof: (Contemplative silence.) SWMBO: Maybe you'd rather take a motorcycle ride someplace? Prof: (More contemplative silence.) SWMBO: Why don't I go visit my sister and you go off on your motorcycle? Prof: O.k.

He has written several hit songs for Nashville stars. He is also one heck of a fine guitarist and a nice guy. The sooner I know how many might attend, the sooner I can get in touch with Craig to get this set up. Let me know.

I don't think I'll want to do it 3 weekends in a row, though. Is the weekend of July 4 a problem because of the tourist stuff?

Sort of a Western AI, and would give more folks in that part of the country who can't make it to Flah-la-land a chance at a workshop. Great idea. I'll have to run it by SWMBO, but for now put me down as "likely." Thanks, Ali!

But even if you come a week early or a week late, it'll still be an OFC gathering! One of my former co-workers at the Moosup factory will likely be here then and you will enjoy my friends who live here too. And you can enjoy all the corny but really neat Fourth activities we have in Hot Springs, like the rubber duck race, the community picnic, the demolition derby, and a REALLY great fireworks show.

You probably swear at me frequently as we fly in from Salt Lake. When the weather permits, as we descend over the Black Hills on our way into Rapid City, I like to make a right turn over Crazy Horse and then aim for Rushmore and turn left. That way the passengers on both sides of the aircraft get a view of one or the other attraction. I must say that as I start to think about retirement locations, the Black Hills are on the list just due to how pretty they are from the air. Your get together would be a good excuse to check out the area from ground level.

We will be doing the songwriting workshop, probably on Friday the 27th of June, here at the shop. Then we will go down and take over the open mic at the Flatiron. On Saturday evening, Craig will be doing a concert at the Wild Burro bookstore. The workshop fee will be $150. I will need to know how many of you are planning to attend the workshop, and even if you don't want to do the workshop, if you let me know for sure if you're coming, I will be able to get group rates at one of the local motels. I know it's early, but because this is a tourist area, some of these motels are booked a year in advance. So let me know. Thanks.

You have to understand, I am the world's most disorganised person. If I don't start now, It'll be July 2012 before I'm ready!

This would be a great trip for SWMBO and I and will definitely go on the schedule. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until this time next year to finalize.

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 12759 Location: Boise, Idaho | I was just thinking how nice it would be to be "self-unemployed" (meaning retired), when I saw that Beal used the same words that had been thinking. Actually, I was feeling guilty that after 31 years at the same place, I don't feel I can take 2 weeks vacation at one time. That means it's past time to be "self-unemployed".
