Joined: March 2002 Posts: 1380 Location: Central Oregon | I got my Pacemaker for FREE, but only because United Parcel Smashers beat the hell out of it (mostly the case) & I wouldn't let them take it for "evaluation". I made that mistake once. "Evaluation" is really UPS code for "we're going to steal it so you can't prove anything". Been there, done that. The guy I bought it from kept the screws to 'em on his end back east & I did the same on this end. We actually got $45 more that I paid for it on a BIN. I told the seller to keep the extra $$ for his trouble. That was the only time I ever came out on a UPS claim. The other two times they screwed me. One of those times they took my money for $500 worth of insurance & still wouldn't pay up when they destroyed a trolling motor. Now I will NEVER use UPS unless somebody insists on shipping me something that way & it's free.

I ended up eating the repairs, but will never, NEVER, use UPS to ship a guitar again.I got my Pacemaker for FREE, but only because United Parcel Smashers beat the hell out of it (mostly the case) & I wouldn't let them take it for "evaluation". I bought a real early balladeer out in LA for $150 back in the mid 80's. I chuckled as I paid for it and told the guy "This is the first Ovation I have ever bought" He gave me a bored, "so what" look and I just let it drop.

But if the OFC guitar was ready, you would be more than welcome to take it home and try it out. They are made to be played, not sit in a case waiting for me to get around to it. 10 of my 12 got played last night, so I still don't have any that are just decorations.

Seems like just a year ago GGG, Stephen and I, et al, got in some hot water over the "boost your post count" thread, while the factory touristas were doing their thing. Jason might have us all beat on the lowest price. I think he paid $20 for an Academy.

About the prices on Ovations, I figure that if I ever get the itch to buy one cheap, I can always come here and ask who wants to sell one for under $200. I bet you'd get some replies.
