about Adamas tops, Ovation tops and tupperware in general. Does anybody around these parts have both an SMT and CVT? Would you care to offer up an evaluation (anyone that has gone the route of evaluating both is welcome to offer up their experience). It seems that you run into more CVT's on fleabay but that might be the luck of timing.

I know that my 9591 gets varying reviews (blatant euphemism) but after checking out GC this weekend, I'm happier than ever with it. I wish I could have compared it to other species of Adami but it seems to hold it's own nicely against it's Ovation cousins. Surely I risk forming conclusions with limited data, but heck, we're all friends here right. Then again, I suppose that any Adamas to Ovation comparison is suspect but in this instance I snuck off with the 9591 at a very Balladeer price.

Continuing, I am pretty curious about the epaulet vs center sound hole issue and roundbacks in general. I can pretty well sum up my questions in the following list:

1.what are the purpose of the holes. Do they “let the sound out?” Perhaps they are there to provide some damping of the top to prevent excessive ring.

2.I've heard the placement is important, would a single hole placed similarly (in the upper bouts) achieve nearly identical results?

3.Whatis the benefit of the roundback? Does the shape help achieve better structural integrity? Suppose we could mold the back in a shape identical to a conventional wooden guitar, yet still leave out the bracing. Would that yield similar results? The 2005 collectors edition would lead one to think that the shape of the chamber is pretty important .

4.Will Miles ever get the search thing fixed so that I might see if these questions and more have already been asked and answered.

I really like my A but I am getting the itch for more and I'm thinking the next has to be a wood top. I really need to spend less time around here. Between the 1534 and the 1598 in “For Sale,” the errant FD-14 that popped up briefly today, this is a dangerous place. Then there's Tony C's mantra “Al's got more”, “Al's got more.” Right about now, I'm in the midst of a major GAStric disturbence. Pretty soon I'll need to see a GAStro-instrumental specialist. Dr. Al is always in. I'm hoping drinking helps.

So gentlemen (Cliff and Dave are invited as well) any opinions?

>> 1.what are the purpose of the holes.

Don't underestimate the power of cheese. In this case "swiss".

Sure, but then it would be a Tacoma!

3.Whatis the benefit of the roundback?

It has nothing to do with antenna shapes, and things being tracked by the mothership...
