Joined: December 2003 Posts: 46 Location: South Portland, ME | I have a Celebrity Deluxe CP2003 LE and its been playing and sounding great, however the action was a little higher than I liked from the 9th to 12th frets. I took one of the shims out of the saddle and that made a noticeable improvement. I replaced the strings and I used Ernie Ball 10s (I use them on my UKII) and I had spaced out picking up some 12s for the acoustic. To make an already long story short, I'm getting the occasional buzz on the strings which is hard to pinpoint. Is it the strings? Should I have tweaked the neck and left the shim alone? Neck adjustments would be a new experience for me. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can "see" the epoxy around the heel if you look thru the sound hole... If you see some black "smuz" liberaly around the "wood" that should be the case... (And NO bolt head) If you see the "back" of a plastic pocket, which is part of the bowl, and the bolt head which attaches the neck, you can probably remove the neck... Some of the older stateside ones could be removable, (not sure why no one has jumped in here to help you... So I am putting in my 2 cents) You might try taking it to a luthier to look at maybe they can find the "buzz"... The only other trick I know of is to find someone with a neck jig fronm Dan Earliwine @ Stewart Macdonald...(I have on and it is one cool tool...) This trick tool will zero out any the defections in the top of the frets, to eliminate that as a source of the annoyant buzz... AB

What would be the point of a truss rod in the neck if it isn't adjustable?? dstan

Which is what I thought you were referring to when you 1st mentioned "Neck Adjustments",... Hold the guitar up to a light source and site along either edge of the fret board... There is typically a wobble at the 12 fret as the fretboard comes off the soundboard and goes unsuported as the neck tapers away from the body...This is where compression from the strung neck will show the most... This is also where most strings will buzz if all else is as it should be... Check also that the nut slots are not cut too deep... AB
