Ah, obviously, just kidding. Well, let me say this, I sometimes stay up for Letterman musical guests and often times, I am dissapointed. Not the case tonight. I watched it on two different feeds. The song was as beautiful as she was.
The second time watching it, I was able to take it all in more. When she finished, I distinctly felt a breeze through my teeth, as my jaw was dropped open. No kidding. I didn't know what to expect, but this wasn't even close.
LOVE the creativity! Please send my thanks for that to her.
(My son began playing the guitar while it was laying down on the ground. I hated to discourage it, but I just didn't know how to teach it like that... HE COULD HAVE BEEN ON LETTERMAN!)
Anyway, Kaki, nice work. Really enjoyed it. Guitar
picks are $.25 each. Save yourself the money, keep
playing like you do.

I actually saw her ! I never remember to watch things on TV but something in my brain clicked when I was switching around and saw Bill Murray. Very cool to see her and I'm not gonna make any criticism other than turn it up a hair Kaki. A little more volume please but that could just be how it was broadcast. I see influences of a couple folks in there but I also see someone who is doing their thing and doing it well and with confidence and a clear vision. That is cool.
By the way her CD "Legs..." made the Best of 2004 list on my radio show on WDET-FM 88.3 in the Detroit area. She was in good company I'll tell ya.

Didn't/don't know Kaki's music, but really enjoyed herpiece on Letterman last night. Lots of talent there. I also re-read the cover article from AG (this morning) and if this woman is nothing else she is humble with plenty of admiration and credit for the people who have influenced her. Good luck and may she have a long
and successful career...and even more importantly a long and happy life.

I got the chance to see it and absolutely loved it. Yes, it's different, but so am I, and there is nothing wrong with that. My brother and his girlfriend were watching it and really started to get into it as well, and they had never even heard of her before. I loved the song - it is not as melodic as it is percussive, but I enjoy a good beat. I agree that the old style of
fingerstyle is getting 'old-fashioned' and out-dated. And who cares if she can play in the so-called 'traditional' manner, if I wanted to hear the 'traditional' manner I could go hear any one of a thousand already-existing fingerstyle guitarists. It's about time we had a breath of fresh air.
