Location: Fort Worth, TX | My new Ovation Balladeer is exhibiting signs of possible future cracking. It's a 40th anniversary model and has a 3 piece top. The outer edges of the saddle stick out 1/4" over the seams of the top. There is a visible dip forming at the edges of the saddle that are each about an inch long. It's symmetrical from one side to the other. All I've done recently is replaced original strings with medium gauge Elixirs. Could this be too much tension on the top? Do these require light gauge strings? If so, I need to change them pronto. I don't know if this problem existed before the string change. I only noticed it when the guitar was laying flat under an overhead light. Thanks. |

I'm trying to picture what you're talking about but am drawing a blank. Any way you could post to pics? |
