OK, I have a question for our members that have LOTS OF GUITARS. I personally have about 6 Acoustics and about 12 Solid Body Electrics which is where my problems begin.

About 8 Solid Bodies and 4 Acoustics are "O"s.
All the SBs are brown cases and all the Acoustics are Black (except 1).

The acoustics aren't really a problem but due to space constraints I can only keep 3-4 guitars out at a time.

The problem....whenever I want to pull out a specific guitar I end up opening 3-4 cases until I get the correct one. Short of writing on the case with a magic marker (which I am sure would lower the value), how do you guys keep track of which guitars are in which cases?

And yes....after the first of the year I plan to post to the gallery.

I label all my cases with masking tape and write the model number on them.

it cracks me up to see my labels still on cases when I have long sold the guitar.

I use a P-Touch label maker.

Leave them out. Hang them on the wall or on guitar stands. They look better than furniture, and you'll play them more.

Put a luggage tag on the handle. If you get a big enough one you can also put a picture on the tag.

I use those manila tags with the string on each handle. Enough room to write in large letters the name and maybe color of the guitar. Easy to spot at any angle or grab it and turn it to read it at any angle. I have over 100 guitars, and I've tried everything. I like Al's method also, but it doesn't work for me as not all of my guitars can be placed so I can see the label, or they might be moved from a place where I can see the end, to standing up or elsewhere. If you could stack or otherwise lineup your guitars the same way all the time, or in the same area, Al's tape method is better as it is easier to see from a distance.

I use white duct tape and then a magic marker like I name my guitars with a nick name so I know which is which and it also gets me in a certain mood before I even play it more like visiiting an old friend!! It also makes it less clinical!!! I own about 55 guitars and it really helps!! I like cases for this to hell with Gig Bags!!!!!

This can really be a problem.
I use silver duct tape with black marker. A piece by the handle to read when it's lying down and a piece at the butt to read when they're all up on the shelves in the basement.
