So, how does your pet react to your music? Does your cat hide under the stairs? Does your parrot sing along? Does your ocelot oscillate? The first time I played for my Welsh Terrier, Jake, he barked at me like I'd just transformed into an alien pod person (everyone's a critic! ) Later, he apparently grudgingly accepted my "noise."

The rabbit runs like hell... the cat chases the rabbit..... and the fish... they just swim... but, the little woman heads to the other end of the house.... (she says it's my ADD not allowing me to play a song all the way thru)

Trixibelle the white cat (named following reading the name given to his daughter by Sir Bob) makes herself scarce when we're in studio and making lots of noise, but tries to do the cheek rub and tail rub on the headstock when I'm noodling on the acoustic around other parts of the house. Girly Squirrely the calico cat (who once spent a night in the kitchen refrigerator and is now several kibbles short of a bowl) tends to wobble around like a stoned groupie. Which we all dearly appreciate. Harry Canary dropped dead a few months back. Not long after we finished going through a Social Distortion song. Story of My Life. I probably should have been teaching the boys And Your Bird Can Sing. Of course, then Ziggy probably would've got him.

Joined: May 2002 Posts: 3005 Location: Las Cruces, NM | I might as well mention again that my brother and I were relegated to the barn when we were first learning country music by my mother, (who, incidentally, also complained that we never played a song all the way through), The cows, trapped in their stantions, seemed to accept our version of country music quite well, I recall them chewing their cud in time with the music, not hard to do as our timing wasn't very good and any chewing seemed more rythmic than us. I never felt like they were inviting us back, none of them shouted !otro, Otro!, but they all gave a standing Ovation after each song, at least they didn't lie down, so I would call that standing. The only rub was that in the spring they left that barn at a full gallop when turned loose and hightailed it (cows really high tail when leaving in a hurry their tails pointing toward the sky), hightailed it to the farthest reaches of the farm to escape those nightly concerts. Then we had a really hard time getting them back in the barn for milking, I'd never carry a guitar when I was rounding up these cruel critics, they would have summoned a neighbor's bull with fake passionate mooos (much like young teenagers) and had him shatter me and the guitar while they ran around laughing at both of us as cows often do.
