Location: 6 String Ranch | Don't know how many of you get Vintage Guitar Bullitin but the most recent one, Jan 05 with Kenny Wayne Sheepdog on the cover has an interesting article about the UK2. Basically says it was a good guitar that didn't quite connect with the market, like every other Ovation solid body effort. Micheal Wright wrote it and I've found him to be pretty reasonable and fair. |

Location: Omaha | Don't want to hijack this thread, but just a question: did Ovation make any of their solidbodies as lefties? I'd love to find a lefty Breadwinner or Deacon.
And yes, the write up in VG was very positive about the UK2. It's amazing how "traditional" electric players are - if it's not a strat, tele or LP, it doesn't register on most players' radar screens...while I love the articles and ads in VG, I get tired of seeing page after page of stuff about old strats and LPs...

I thought my instructor was going to be one of those traditionalists. I mean, he's a professional, right, so I'd geared up to expect some flack. On the contrary, he was really into my O and asks to play it from time to time. Which makes me feel good. Not so much because he thinks my guitar is cool, but it makes me feel good to know that it's being played the way Kaman intended. G-d knows I can't do it justice. He also thought my Cropper Classic was well constructed, setup great, played very good, etc. I was expecting the usual anti-Peavey response to that one, too. Guess some people have open minds, some don't.
I find that the most rabid FendIbson fanatics are the punks shredding away at Guitarget. Frankly, I don't care about their opinion. |
