Location: Belgium | I was real lucky buying this UK2 off ebay, only paid 250€, although it wasnt in the best state (action, one pot went south, one tuner replaced) but properly set up it plays like a MF. It has really weird inlays i've never seen before (sort of diamonds, not nots) in MOP (i guess) and the tuner knobs are pearly too. the serial n° is E 12874, and i wondered if anyone could tell me something about it (est. year o M would be nice)

I couldn't get your picture to work, but I will say the UKII is one of Ovation's best solid bodies. I have a Viper that I love, and they ain't gonna make no more of any of them (UKII or Viper).

Location: 6 String Ranch | That's not a UK2 neck, it's a Deacon neck I think with those inlays. No big deal, makes it rarer. Nice guitar. |

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | If the neck is original black finish, it probably came with that neck...I don't think there were ever any black Deacons.
The diamond inlays look great on it, better than the original configuration, for me.

Location: Scotland | The Schaller bridge means it's a late-production example. It would appear that towards the end of the life of the solidbodies they were just using up parts. I've seen a few UK11's with Preacher dot-inlay necks, so it's pefectly possible they may have used a Deacon neck. The shape of the headstock makes it an early version, the Deacon headstocks became wider later in production |

Location: 6 String Ranch | INteresting. The neck and bridge are about 3-4 years apart. Maybe the bridge was added later? Is there a hole in the back of the guitar under where the bridge is? If there is it would indicate that the schaller bridge was added later. It could be just using up old parts. Whatever it is it's cool.
Paul T, we did a few with the dot inlays at the end but this wasn't one of them. |

Location: Belgium | I'll post more details when i get it back from the shop (early next week) but there wasn't a hole in the back of the body... it only had a hole in the front under the bridge (room for action-adjustment). I do remember the headstock front was wood textured (you can see that on the pic) but the back (neck) is definatly black |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | the necks with the dots and chrome tuners were from what guitar bill? i know you told me once, but i can't remember. even though the pearl inlay with gold hardware is the "dressiest" i still think the bowtie inlay is the coolest and the dot's with chrome the most practical. no matter what one it is, the ukII always gets the interest and comments going amongst fellow musicians.
i played the breadwinner synth guitar again at last night's gig. maybe i need to stop playing such unusual, interesting guitars in public and MAYBE people would comment on my playing instead of the guitars.
also the wood for my synth guitar project got here today with my friends from oregon. any neck reccommendations for a 24 fret neck? the wood is quilted maple, and fiddleback maple. really beautiful!!! the neck would be best in a natural wood finished maple as well i think. i don't think i'm up to building a neck just yet. i'll just build the body with a single hexaphonic pickup. |
