I got a 3 year old s771. For a long time now the GBE strings would buzz from rubbing against the higher fret.

I tweaked the truss rod a lot and even with wicked high action it still fretted out above say the 7th fret.

Lowered the action to slightly higher than the .015 recommended, put a new Ovation saddle on and checked the shims. 2 brown ones are allready in there.

I didn't get new shims yet so I put in 2 strips from a credit card.

It is so high on the treble side I am seeing the metal baseplate that holds the shim yet.....

Action is now 4/32 at both the E's at the 12th which is high.

The E and B strings still slightly buzz. I can't figure this out..I am high on truss rod action and high on saddle action.

Any thoughts? This is with lights and medium guage strings tested.

Since it's buzzing even when you tweak the truss rod, I'd remove all but one thick shim and one thin shim, maybe just leave in one thick shim. Then I'd crank the truss rod so that the low e string is 3.5/32 high above the 12th fret. This way the string will be able to vibrate. You want to give the string room to vibrate. I hope you can visualize this. The more warp to the neck, you'll have more room to vibrate. Use strings like EXP 26 or DEan Marklye TLT. Have some people who have some experience playing the guitar, try it. If they still find a buzz, with just one shim in, and the action set at 3.5/32, then I suspect the frets are too tall. If they have no buzz but you don't then it's that you're not accostomed to thick fret wire. Good luck.
