Hi all,

This is to expand on something I mentioned seeing a couple of months ago. Today I saw not one, but TWO new Ovation Ultra models at a shop in Lansing, MI. One was a round-sound-hole model 1577, in -1 finish, the other was a multi-sound-hole model 1578(I believe the label said "Ultra Classic"); I didn't recognize the finish as an established Ovation color, but it was a quilted tan-brown.

Both guitars were NEW, with Ovation tags on them like any new Ovation guitar. The labels on the inside of the bowls said something like "Designed in the U.S./Made in Korea/Final Assembly and Quality Check at New Hartford, Conn."

Both Ultras had the 2-piece neck and OP-30 package.

The 1577 was priced at $609. For reference, they had a S771 Balladeer next to it with a $629 price on it (these prices are without cases).

I played both the 1577 and 1578 and didn't care for either---the S771, 1771-LX and 1777-LX they had there were WAY better IMHO.

Roger
