Hi,

Thought that maybe some of you might enjoy these pics of my new Larrivee OM-03K. It doesn't quite have the bottom end that my 1983 Ovation Elite 1537 has (Thanks again, Woz!) - but it has beautiful trebles and plays like a dream. It's not too hard on the eyes either.

Hi Jon,

Nice guitar. Larrivee makes really good guitars, as I've said before, if I didn't have Ovations, I'd have Larrivees.

A couple of questions: first, did you have to have that made custom, or was that a regular model? It seems odd that Larrivee would use premium wood on an -03 trim level.

Secondly, I see your 2001 parlor in the background on the one picture---is that signatures on it? If so, who signed it and why? I have a recent O-09 flame maple Larrivee parlor myself, they sound really good for the size.

Played the parlor in Nashville and it does have a wonderful sound.

Roger,

Yeah, I took the Parlor to a bluegrass festival in Iowa a couple of years back and had some of the folks out there sign it for me; Del McCoury, Rhonda Vincent, Ricky Skaggs and most of the musicians from the aforementioned bands. Cody Kilby (lead guitar with Ricky) played that parlor to death - was lucky to get it back from him.

Fantastic! I think Rhonda Vincent is great; my wife and I saw her and the Rage at the Grand Ole Opry last October. And it was great that Del was made a member of the Opry last year---I think it was the weekend after we were there.

Glad to hear you did get your parlor back, though!

Roger,

The OM-03K was a custom order for a guy that failed to pick-up the guitar when it came in. The owner showed it to me and I latched onto it immediately. The pics don't really do it justice - but the sound is what sold me.

I used my Elite 1537 (bought it from Woz some time ago) all day for student lessons, and was thinking that no guitar could be better - great bass - great treble - great feel. Came home and fired up the Larrivee and felt the same thing about it - crazy, isn't it? Am really fortunate to own a pair of beauties.

Regards,
Jon

Jon

Can't argue with the Bluegrass people you met with, all great bands, if they liked it it is a good guitar. Here in Cruces there is nobody that carries Larrivees so I can't check them out. I sure know how all those bands sound, and they are good ones.

The wood grain is just stunning.
What can make someone order somthing so special and then leave it orphaned? Money problems most likely.
