When I saw him last year, he only played one song in standard tuning - and it was the one he had the most trouble with (said he hadn't played it in awhile), but once he got going, it was incredible.

However there are any number of small-shop luthiers whose work is of the same or higher standard. Once you get to a certain price point they're all good, you just have to decide which flavour of good suits you. Is an Olsen better than a Bourgeois, or a Goodall, or a Bown, a Sobell, a Klein, a Collings or "insert name here"? The answer to which depends on your taste, your needs, your personal definition of "better" and to some degree your bank balance.

Great guitars, great guys, low price for now, but they are catching on. The wait has gone up to 9 months now, use to be a couple. Of course you can also get an Ovation LX, no waiting.....

Yes, they're out there, but according to one dealer here, Ovation is around 2,000 orders behind on LX's, and they haven't even got a left-handed body/bowl yet (!). So depending on what you want, there "might be" some wait involved.
