I have had an Applause cut-away my father bought used in the mid-'80s. I've never tried to find out the year of the make until I was fortunate enough to find this website.

The model # on the label in the body is scratched out, but the serial number is 054708. To this color blind individual, the color is a baby blue.

Thanks for any leads or info you may be able to provide.

It is interesting Sam. If they had made that guitar on a regular basis, I would have bought one, jettisoned the neck and electronics, and made my own Bluebird.

It's also interesting that Hamer didn't pick up on that technology when purchased by Kaman.

Paul,

Thanks for the welcome. I wish I'd have known of the fan club a long time ago. I will enjoy the website and postings for years to come.

I just relocated to Austin, TX from Louisiana, so I'm still getting used to Texas and the city life. I'm enjoying all the music stores Austin has to offer!

Lou

the faom viper was made around 1980. Hamer wasn't bought till 88 although they did paint an elite 12 string for us. Steve Stevens bought one and wanted it to match his Hamer so we sent the guitar to Hamer and they matched the paint scheme.
