Does anyone know why they made two different neck widths of the Hurricane. I've seen five different Hurricanes over the years and three of them had 1-7/8 nut and the other two had 1-11/16. I currently own one of each. What I understand it wasn't like you could order one or the other. It was just kind of random what ever you got. The only other distinguishing thing is that all the 1-7/8 ones had the scrolled fretboard end and the 1-11/16 ones had a plain squared off end. The 1-11/16 neck is pretty cool to play. It's exactly the same width as a standard 6 string (like a Balladeer or Legend), but it has 12 strings. Obviously not made for players with fat fingers - but it's really pretty cool. Does anyone know anything about this? If you have a Hurricane, please post here and tell me what the neck width is at the nut. I can post pics if anyone is interested. Dave

The two 12 string guitars I just sold had those same width necks. The Celebrity was 1-7/8 & the Epiphone Riviera was 1-11/16ths, the same as my 6 string Riv. The Celeb was great for the first 5 frets, after that the action was just too high & nothing further could be done to fix it. The Epi was great to play up the neck a ways, but I couldn't play an open C chord on it without killing an extra string or two no matter how hard I tried. The Epiphone went to a lady. It should be great for someone with smaller fingers than I have. The plugged in sound was pretty blah compared to the Celebrity.
