For any of you who get "Musician's Friend" in the mail every month, the latest issue has a feature on Ovations. Although most people on this board go for the American made Ovations, this feature reviewed the Celebrity Delux model. The reviewer loved the look, the feel, and the tone. Why they choose to review the Korean made one rather than some American made one I don't know. Take a look at it. It's quite interesting.

A good sign:

Last week I got a Guitar Center promotional in the mail. Inside was a HALF PAGE ad for a (get this!) CUSTOM LEGEND!!!

Not a blurb mixed in with other guitars and not a postage stamp pic amidst a sea of Celebrity models, but a half page promo with detailed description and features!!!

ABOUTfuckingTIME!!!!!

did they actually have the guitar is stock? I had a customer ask about a similar guitar and I checked the MF website and they had it on there cheap but none in stock they have to order it from Ovation just like me.
Another thing is to check what case you get. the big box stores often cheese out on the case giving you a cheap case instead of the case that you should get.
it's all in the bottom line...

Whether or not it was in stock, I don't know.
This was a GC catlog, not MF (same thing, I know).
I only brought it up becaue I was tickled shitless that there was an upper tier US model being touted as opposed to the usual borgasmorg of import models and a USA model relegated to the lower left corner of the ad. My point is that maybe, MAYBE Ovation/Kaman is saying to GC 'Hey!..how's bout promoting some of our better stuff, for a change".

I received a Sweetwater catalog a coule of months back ... they have an Ovation page and all they have are high-end USA Ovations on the page. No imports whatsoever.

As far as MF goes, their buying public seems to be on the low end of the spending scale. They promote and sell what their customers will buy. Check out their "Buyer's Choice" awards sometime ... I imagine that the Celebrity Deluxe is well over twice the price of the average guitar they sell.

I was in San Francsico this week working, and found a Guitar Center on Mission Street. They had eight USA Ovations in their acoustic room, and one import outside the room. I was pleased.

Hi,
I'm new here, and the post about S.F. Guitar Center caught my eye.I'm on my way down there to purchase a recording studio workstation, so I'm going to check out the Ovations as well.
Could use some advice on a good second guitar in the Ovation family. I just got my 2002 collector's edition on Monday(Number 039), and I just don't understand why musicians thumb their noses at ovation!!! My guitar sounds rich and beautiful!
I originally purchased a C057 a year ago, which for the price has a nice, bright accoustic sound when plugged in. It's for that reason I decided to stick with ovation.
So, should I get the celebrity deluxe as a second guitar when on stage(is it as bright a sound as the c057), or is their another choice?

Either way, I love my new ovation!!!

OCE0239(Ovation Collectors Edition 2002/039) :) :) :) :) :)
