My signature will be a conspicuously placed CRACK,SCRATCH,DENT,DING,DANG, FREEKIN DONG!!!! I was reaching out to pick up my Balladeer (you know, my back-up since my Legend is having a CRACK REPAIRED!)and dropped my worthless German anti-coalition Kyser CRAPO unto the face of my Perfectly Pristine Balladeer, going from MINT to having 4 COUNT THEM 4 Ding dong dents on her!    I SWEAR, I'M CLIMBING OUT OF MY SKIN!!!!!!!!! WHAT is the DEAL?! I've tried harder to protect my O's than any other instrument I own, yet I keep wreaking havic on them. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!    Excuse me now while I go KILL SOMETHING!!!!!!!! Norse(equal opportunity instrument destroyer)man1 p.s. Sorry about my rant... just had to get it off my chest! Thank you!

It has minor dings and scratches in it, but the big gouge in the face is from me. I look at it and want to cry. But instead, I figure that I've just left my mark on it for future generations.

I burned up my preamp the 1st time I tried to power it up....inserting the battery with reverse polarity. I was ready to start knocking holes in sheetrock with any items or mammals at hand. Trust me.....all things must pass....and they will. I'm very sorry. I'll bet that bad boy will sound just as good tomorrow as it did yesterday..... Regards, KD

The first time I banged the mike against my 1617 I almost cried. Twenty years later, she is dinged, donged and cracked but plays like an untouched beauty. I don't notice the battle damage when she is in my arms and I'm strummin' away. It's kinda like a JEEP. If you see a Jeep without scratches, dings and dents, that means it has never been "four wheelin'". It's just for show. Sounds good anyway.

I play for a childrens choir at church, and they love to strum my guitar. I don't have to worry about it. It is just so tough. When I use my Custom Balladeer, I am much more careful. Those Adamas tops are tough!....Paul Hebert

Joined: May 2002 Posts: 1026 Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | Wow, Next time something like that happens, I need to give myself a two hour grace period before I speak or post  I went and killed 1/2 gallon if ice cream, a bag of Doritos w/Picante sauce, and a bag of chocolate chips. I don't know if I feel better now, or if it's just the carbo/sugar high taking effect! I apologize for my raging rant, it was a little over the top! It's just been a long week, that suddenly got a little longer. Usually my guitar is my escape from all the stress, not the cause of it. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the sun will come up in the morning. Thanks for the humor and empathy guys, I knew I could count on you to help me deal with my minor catastrophy. This board has been a real treasure in many ways. Peace, Norse(time to go sleep it off now)man1

Hey Norsey, Sounds a little like target fixation... when you focus on what you don't want to do, then it happens (murphy's law) Shortly after my wife and I purchased our first new car, a careless coworker put a ding in the door! At first I was very upset, then I came to realize that I was relieved because I didn't have the stress of keeping in 'pristine'... Sorry to hear about your mishap, but on the flipside, it's nice to hear how some of the other folks are able to reconcile what has happened to their guitars (or whatever for that matter). Just my two cents....

My wife just picked up some orange oil, so I tried that. I didn't think the orange colour would stain!!!! :( :( :( My white maple inlays are now ORANGE. Yuck. Bradley

I have 9 unique guitars, and (though I hate to admit it), the sound does improve with the "custom touch". I hope the Ice cream and Doritos went down well. Joe

If you can't see into the guitar through the gouges, it's probably OK. You might even imagine an improvement in sound quality as your top loosens up from the beating. Bailey (The half full glass, at least bad luck is some kind of luck) :D
