Hi there!

I've just received an used Ovation guitar as a gift for my birthday, and I'm wondering if you've got some more info about it, since it doesn't appear in the official website.

The model is Celebrity CC157, made in Korea, so the body is Super Shallow (103 mm). The serial number is ripped off, but it began with "03".

The equalizer is different from the ones I saw in the official site (simpler, it seems)... It only has three selectors: TRE, BASS and GAIN. In addition, there's a little round key with a red led to check battery level, on the right.

Tuning keys are marked "PING" instead of Ovation,

The most difficult thing to identify has been the colour: it's a "burst" between white/light grey (center) and black, very similar to the colour of the "Collectors' Edition 1983" I saw on Ebay.

I'm just curious to know something more about it: not only about its value (that's interesting, but not very much since it's a precious gift to me, so I'm not gonna sell it), but also about its history, date, features...

Can anybody help?

Hi Michel,

Information on Celebrities seems harder to find than other Ovation. I found yours listed in a 1996 catalog and I can only add the following info:

OP-24+ preamp

The finish seems to be what they call "barnboard" by your description. Look for a "-B" somewhere after your model number to confirm.

The retail price back in '96 was $699.50 w/o case.

Hope the info helps.
