I know, I watch ebay too much, but this is kinda interesting. It's not often that you see #1 of a collectors series up for sale.

And the story with it is mostly correct! How refreshing! There were 12 bearclaws but they weren't the first. They were later on. Also I don't think The series ever started with 1. Sammy Ash used to get #4 every year, kind of a tradition so we'd make a 4 and the rest started around 20 or so. (Maybe someone from the factory can confirm or deny this. I sat in Bloomfield and signed the F@&*$%ng certificates. Talk about a boring job!! I didn't actually see each guitar off the end of the line)
I loved the 93 configuration so had these 12 made around midyear and went back and had the 1-12 numbers used. I did the same with the 87 bearclaws but there were about 2 dozen of those.
I'm trying to remember who bought this but am drawing a blank_________________________________

I see the certificate is signed by some "C William Kamen II".

Just wondering in case I get GAS again. Does that increase or diminish the worth of the guitar?? :p

You can usually knock a couple of bucks off based on that.

I like the theories stated, shoot for great acoustic sound by thin finish, stress top etc. and let the electric take care of itself. But as you all know, I'm an acoustic sound searcher, and the Elite T has been given some good reviews for that reason. Unfortunately, we will never know how that '93 collectors edition actually sounds unless someone on the board buys it, or we can hope the buyer joins and tells us about it. Maybe somewhere along the line the buyer will hear about us and satisfy our curiousity. I'm sure curious as to how it has aged over the close to 10 years it has been around.

Hey Bill, you had sold me the 93 collectors, # 1 and # 9 about a year or two ago..I loved the sound of #1,it was trully one of the best sounding unplugged ovations i have ever owned..I traded it to a guy who sent me a mint condition strat deluxe and a top of the like Johnson malinium amp with the expensive foot pedal which was a $600 extra at the time..Anyway,the strat and amp are gone now but the Collectors 93 surfaces...It is a wonderful guitar.I dont thinmk its worth $2200 though
