We're getting another blast of winter today in North Texas - this time with sleet and ice. All the local school districts have closed tomorrow (not only do I have two kids in school, my wife is an art teacher at FWISD). So, looks like we all have a day off tomorrow. 1" accumaltion of ice makes it very treacherous to be out

Guess I'll get some guitar playing in...

This type of weather happens here every few winters. About 14 years ago it was a major ice storm when tree limbs break and down the power lines, this time it's just been accumulating sleet for several hours now. Supposed to melt away by Wednesday.

Was sitting here while the sleet was pounding on the windowpane and strumming some guitar, kept doing this Am7 to Gm7 thing along with the patter of the sleet....

Then was looking at Texarkana by R.E.M. nice chord pregressions :)

From here in sunny NM all that snow looks soooh pretty, just like an 1920's country scene. How I wish I could participate in that winter fun that you all are having, all we get is rain and snow on the mountains off in the distance instead of down here where we could slip and slide and fight traffic foulups of gargantuan proportions and bitter cold and slick ice where the car only goes one direction no matter how you turn the wheel, destroying that pristine car body that you waxed all summer against your neighbors mail box and coating the parts with highly corrosive salt mixes that will remove the corrosion protection immediately. I miss that so much, especially when the snow plow fills up the driveway six feet deep that you shoveled from 5:30 AM in an honest effort to get to work and keep your job, as your boss has a $50,000 Hummer and derides all those with lesser vehicles as wimps who don't really know how to handle bad weather. I packed up my stuff and three kids, and went from Ohio to CA with no prospect of a job for these very reasons. I feel your pain.

Gotta wear the shades 'cause everything is whited out today - sleet kept up most of the night. Kids are out sliding up and down the street. It's pretty, but it's ice and not snow - so no snowmen, snowball fights, etc. There's a 1/2" layer of ice in the gutters and the street is a solid sheet of sleet/ice.
Time for some more guitar practice :D

The coldest spell I was ever privy to was a little north of Torrington, WY near the Nebraska border in 1990. It was right around -55 F, and with the wind chill it put it over -80 F. All our vehicles were dying and we had to cram into a six pack chevy. I had to lean on my rifle with my butt up against a window for the 80 mile ride back to Cheyenne, WY. By the time we got there my pants had frozen to the window.

Last night it probably got down into the mid to high 40's with rain. Tough life.

Well boys

As I said before, pack up those burros and head west and south. Some 49ers WALKED to CA and their descendants still live there. If you insist on living there in the frigid east, enjoy those pastoral winter scenes.

Ya'll got it all wrong about this factory visit. You should be going down to see Russ and doing the tour by a video link.
