I guess this question is best for Mwoody and the other BFLG members, but how hard is it to remove and then replace the bolt on necks on the LX models? it's a 5 piece neck, on a 2771lx, does the heel or heel cap usually come or break off?? or for the most part do the entire neck assembly(usually) come off complete and in one piece?

the reason I'm asking is Overseas shipping(especially AU) is getting insane.... at least when it comes to the size/weight restrictions of an Ovation a/e in a case and carton...

if the neck comes off, and goes back on easily enough and in alignment, it would be a heck of a lot cheaper to ship it as parts and in 2 pieces in a box.

anyone heading to AU(Brisbane) anytime soon let me know... I have a couple that need to be delivered to AJ... I'm sure they're cheaper to take as checked baggage than the current shipping prices I've been getting. and USPS is out due to AU postal size/weight restrictions.

Thanks,

Glenn

AJ, you need to befriend a frequent business traveller that can bring home your treasures on their return trips! As spendy as the shipping is to AU, you'd think there'd be people sidelining as couriers.

Glenn,

Very easy and not an issue. Just pad the parts real well.

Jim,

There are only 3 allen bolts holding it on. Simple. Even I can do it. Just make sure you tape on the spacers/washers to where they came from to ensure Jim puts it together same as it came apart.

I'm going to Brisbane next week. I'll take em for ya.

Muzz, what have I told you about teasing the Americans? If he was in the US (or going there) we would have ALL heard about it. He lives an hour away from Brisbane, so will not be much help as a guitar mule.

AJ, if you're prepared to pay for it as excess baggage (check out how much it would cost first) I'm prepared to lug another guitar from Atlanta to Brisbane.

OK,

AJ has agreed to receive the Balladeer in pieces.. hopefully only 2, neck and body assemblies.

should make things much more cost-effective on the shipping...

time to dig out the Allen wrenches and go to work...

Muuah Hah Hah Hah.... this might be fun!
