Joe Pass Emperor II |

Location: SoCal | There is'nt one that close. The Joe Pass is a deep body. All the storm series were thin bodies, more like an Epi Casino. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I have one. I liked the deep flame finish on the back and sides. The top is spruce. The fit and finish are excellent, particularly the binding. Detail on the headstock is flashy and with the blonde finish, it grabs a lot of attention hanging on the wall. The sound is a bit bright, so I adjust it with a bit more bottom end than I would typically. The pups do not seem to be up to their USA counterparts. If I was to gig with it, I would upgrade the pups. The pickguard looks cheesy to my taste. I paid $500 for mine in flawless condition. |

Location: SoCal | I've got two buddies who are both left handed and both bought lefty Joe Pass's. Both are real happy with them. On one of them, the p/u's were switched to genuine Gibson p/u's. I think the bridge might have been switched as well. |

Location: PDX | It seems the "classic" jazz guitar is missing in the Ovation line up, or am i missing something? Does Hamer put a product out to fill this niche?
Just curious.

Location: Chehalis, Washington | I recently picked up an Ibanez Artcore AF85VLS that is about the same size/setup as the Joe Pass, and it is awesome. Mine's about 4 years old, and I had to change the strings when I got it, but with new strings it just sings...deep body, floating adjustable saddle, suspended bridge, REALLY nice neck, and it set me back all of about $325 with shipping. That would be my recommendation, unless you're going for a REAL jazz box, in which case, figure on shelling out closer to $2G. |
