Joined: August 2006 Posts: 3 Location: Wales UK | I have just aquired an Elite 1868-C Natural Finish, it's an early 90's model, it's in a nice condition but hasn't seen a lick of polish for some years.I would like to know what would be considered to be the best Polish for this Natural Spruce Top.....? Joined: August 2002 Posts: 8307 Location: Tennessee | Ditto on the Dunlop 65. By the way, does your label read 1868-C? If so, it likely has a solid cedar top, not spruce. A somewhat rare bird, and very good soundboard. | ||

But I own a -C finish which is a natural cedar top and somewhere in my paperwork there is a statement to the effect not to polish a natural cedar top. I did try the Dunlop 65 on it one time and it left a dull residual that I am still trying to buff out. And no I didn't leave on too long. I think the best thing is a few sprinkles of water and a soft cloth. But, like I said, these guys have way more experience than me. P.S. the natural cedar finish is not supposed to shine. | ||

Joined: November 2004 Posts: 4413 | For my wooden box I bought the full set of Planet Waves Restore, Protect and Shine. Great results - I'd recommend it but someone is bound to start screaming about the carnuba wax in there. Haven't used it on an O yet. | ||
