Yesterday, I picked up the new "Tonematch Engine" which is essentially a mixer with presets and effects that are designed to be used with the L1. I went to their website and downloaded the new Ovation presets (they have them for the VIP, Op Pro, Op Studio, and VXT) which they developed with Ovation. I was amazed at how good my Legend LX sounded through this thing. It sounds "scary good"! I can't wait to get home and try it with my 12 string! If anyone is on the fence about one of these units, you should check it out.

JefferyD, I have the early L1 Pas also. If I recall correctly the tonematch enging is compatable with the early model, I think it's around 400 bucks, check the Bose musicians website.

The only difference is the way it is hooked up. The "model II" has a special input for it. With the older models (mine is a model 1) you run it through the line input of channel 3 or 4. You also have to use a seperate power supply (the model II base powers the unit as well). It's not cheap. It's 499.00 plus the power supply which is about $30.00. So far I see a huge difference in the sound and it seems to be worth the investment. I have a lot to learn about it, but so far it's very cool. Bose has a 45 day " no questions asked" return policy which is cool too.John B, the L1 B1 Pas is a great sounding system for guitar (O's)/vocals, I love mine, glad to hear she saw the light. I agree, John, it sounds "scary good" (and I don't even have the fancy EQ and imaging gizmo you just acquired... good on 'ya!). At a gig last week at a local joint called Katerina's we got comments on the excellent sound. It is a great promotional device!
