As a lefty player when I visit a guitar shop I am lucky to see anything I can play, and when there is a lefty or two they are usually the bottom of the line imports. Yesterday I stopped by a shop in Commerce GA and they had a Blueridge lefty. I've never heard of them, but for lack of anything else to pick up, I played this thing and I've got to tell ya I was amazed at the tone and playability of this guitar. I asked a kid there to play a Martin D-28 with me (there were no Ovations) and the difference in tone was not noticable to my ear. Without knowing what it was I didn't buy it. After an internet search and a search on the OFC forum I now know it is a Chineese made guitar but for the $450.00 price I think I will buy it in two weeks when I go back through there. The web site says they are modeling the 1920's style of guitar build. Open tuners, forward x-style bracing and a solid top, bla, bla, bla. I(I dont't want a guitar with good taste, I just want a guitar that tastes good)anyway I thought I would share my experience

These guitars are imported also here in Italy and got the attention of many semi-pro musician as well. Never seen one in person.

I've played several and the build quality has been good... and the tone has been great. I'm a fan.

A good friend of mine bought a used one. The kid who sold it to him said he couldn't get the action stable. We have had an unusually humid (for our area) summer, and on humid days the action is too high. On dry days it buzzes. I think the kid may have exposed it to too much sun. (He said he liked to play outdoors.) It also had a huge 14th fret drop-off. It's a beautiful guitar, lots of inlay, and it has a good tone. I doubt very much that this troubled guitar is typical, but it's the only one I've had much experience with.

I would second that. A little too much bling on the headstock for my taste but a decent guitar for the $$$.

I have owned a BR-70 for several years. These don't have the gaudy headstock bling like some. It is a copy of a Martin D-41 with abalone body trim and gold hardware. It has the pre-war style scalloped and forward shifted bracing under a solid spruce top. The build quality on mine is excellent, and the tone is right up there with my Martin HD-28VR. It stays in tune well, and never had a problem of any kind. Great guitars for the price.

I've never owned a Blueridge but have tried a number of them, in shops. I've never taken to them. They are usually too ornate and to my eyes and ears, lack quality in sound and appearance.
Some people seem to love them. I don't.
