Debating on selling the 1881 to get in on this deal Al has put together for the 1581 reissues. Am I mad here or not?

Not mad unless you don't like the deep bowl or the -5 finish.

I have had several of each. Greatly preferred the 1581.

With the 1881 you're getting a decent guitar acoustically and a great guitar plugged in.

With the 1581 you're getting a great guitar both plugged in and acoustically.....

Moody brings up the most valid point I have considered. It's been a long time since I played a deep bowl Adamas, but I do remember that strumming E, F, or G chords sent a rumble through me. That impression has stayed with me for 15 years.

I will also have a warranty, something I don't have as the second owner of my 1881.

Even if I sell the 1881, I've still got a fairly large $$$ gap to close.

Thanks for the insight people.

Todd, there's a small group here hankering for an 1881, so you shouldn't have difficulty finding a buyer. If in doubt about which one you prefer, stop by. I have both. If it was an either/or decision for me, I would keep the 1581 because it will do everything. Because I prefer SSBs in the band, I actually play the 1881 more than the 1581, but only because of comfort and playability. Sound-wise, they're pretty equal plugged in, and unplugged, the deep acoustic tone of the 1581 is noticeably stronger.

Thanks for your opinion Brad.

I have had a couple of OFC family members already contact me about the 1881. I figured that finding a buyer for this guitar would be easy. Finding another $500 has proven more difficult thus far. But I'm still trying to find a way to do this before the last one is gone...

Did you talk to AL about making a large down payment to hold the 1581 till you can raise the balance.

Even tho Al is a bad salesperson  he is easy to work with!

This is not a big deal financially for me until I include my wife's input. SWMBO, right?

+1 Once you send some money to Al, he becomes very pleasant.

He was even pleasant when Discover declined my payment. (We had numbers transposed.)

Just give Al the numbers and expiration date and ask that he keep them on file. It makes all subsequent orders go very smoothly.
