Well, here's a joke I still tell despite being involved in a battle for the last year with the help of some lawyers who are genuinely nice, decent people, but don't get me started about the unethical sleazebags representing the other side.

"Why do they bury lawyers 10 feet deep?"

"Because deep down, they are good people."

You might be doomed - being nice and decent doesn't hold up well in the litigation game - in fact it's almost professional negligence - you have to go for the throat every time..lol

A fact that has not been lost on me. :(

We might be doomed, but I'd rather be right than stoop to the level of the tactics that the other side's lawyers have resorted to. .... Long story, not for here.

OTOH, I finally figured out Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman" after working on SRV's "Crossfire". The tuning to Eb did it as I could vocalize at a half step lower and finally figured it out. I'm mostly an electric player, but it works on acoustic. Could make an interesting medley.

Yeah, I know. I'll go back to lurking.

You want the lawyer that advises you to be a decent person so you can trust him and feel comfortable working with them.
If you ever get into litigation you also want to have the nastiest prick you can find on your side as well, but he's the front man and disposable.

You people! Judges and jurors know the jerks, whether it's the lawyers or the clients. I'm not sure jurors care as much anymore about being lied to. Maybe people are just getting used to it.
I told a doctor once, "he's not just an ass to the other side, he's just an ass."

Everytime I watch actual footage of a trial on TV, I'm always surprised at how bad, boring, and inept the lawyers seem. But on fictional TV shows they are so fascinating and captivating. If I ever go to trial, I'm just gonna hire an actor.
