The ad doesn't make mention of it, but I happen to know that the fiberglass in this guitar is Brazilian fiberglass. Great tone.....

I thought they banned the importation of Brazilian fiberglass due to the devastation of the beaches from sand harvesting...

Alison, those of us in the know can tell you it's not just sitka carbon fiber, it Adirondak sitka carbon fiber.

Only the best....

His starting price is only a couple dollars lower than Bobbo and I paid for our new FRG K1111 RIs.

Those are great guitars as most of you know. Quite a few people here have had the pleasure of owning one (or two). As far as the Braz glass bowls, these were made before the international ban was instituted.

I don't want to talk about it too much, but I'm pretty certain there's some black market running of Brazilian fiberglass......

geneo,

I think your search will be in vain. As far as I am aware, no original shiny bowl 12-strings had the same rosette as the early balladeers.

But I could be wrong -

Only the 6-string model had the chainlink and grapes rosette. Earliest ones were white on black background, then they switched to black on white background.

Classic and Josh White had the geometric zig-zag rosette but changed to the floral rosette in late 67.

Deluxe Balladeer and 12-String Balladeer had the floral rosette from the start. The Glen Campbell versions also had floral.

Not true. The floral rosette on my 68 shiny bowl Balladeer 12 is inlaid.

From about '67-mid '69, all Ovations had inlaid floral rosettes. Mid '69 is where they started doing the overlaid rosettes.....
