Personally, I'm not convinced and I'm not very cool so I clip mine. Wayne

Inside is only the model number and serial number...no frequency number. I will say again, that this SSB is by far the most impressive sounding shallow bowl I have ever played and it sounds better than some of the mid/deep bowls that I have owned. Obviously I would love to keep it within the OFC family but it will go to eBay if I don't sell to anyone here within the next few days.

I own the 1581 reissue and it sounds nothing like the 1881 (at least not to my ears). The 1881 has a brighter, crisper sound than the deeper darker sounds of the 1581.

I wish I could get the reissue model because everybody agree on the fantastic bass those guitars have (and as I could have read in a previous post, you too !). And I have read in previous posts that the 1581 with two epaulets (like mine) sounds very closed to the 1681. That's why I asked you about the frequency number. Thank's,

This thread was about the red 1881 but it sounds like you might have been interested in the 1681. I was interested in your 1681 (the blue one with deep bowl). I've just checked your first post in this thread, and you were talking about both ! Sorry if I misunderstood.

Yes, the 1681 and the 1581 reissue sound similiar but not identical. The 1581 with the single side epalutes has a bassier sound than the 1681. The 1681 has a slightly more balanced sound. My guess is that a double epaluet 1581 and the 1681 would sound almost the same or very very similar. They both play about the same....which is exceptional. You should think about the 1881....especially if you play live and plugged in. It is a killer player.

You understand now why I was annoying you with my frequency question ! :) Your 1881 should certainly be a killer guitar, but I don't like SSB's guitars. I can't hold them because I play sat on a chair. It is a beautiful guitar (I love red colors), but not for me ! I wish you good luck for the continuation !
