Location: boulder | I emailed the guitar broker awhile ago, and he was repairing the seam split. it has been for sale for a few months. it does have the zigzag rossette though. , not a super early serial # though, but still a shiny bowl. peace mike |

Location: Phoenix AZ | I have the same model guitar (minus the wood split). The sound of these old classicals is very nice. Hard to describe, but it's somehow much more open and lighter than the later versions. Mike, do you agree? The only downside is that the neck is a little chuncky. My guess is that the carver called in sick with the neck 80% done and they just said, heck it's close enough let's put it together. Dave |

Location: boulder | Being a hack guitar player, I never realized how cool a nylon string guitar is. I think all the shiny bowls sound great. the sustain is really terrific. (Dave describes the tone well with open and light). I will have to go play some today/tommorrow to get the feel of the neck again.
aahhh, shiny bowls, less is more. This one looks great regardless. I don't mean to disparage the repair at all. I mean look at that brazilian bridge, it's gorgous.
My shiny bowl balladeer s/n 1103 is a mess, and my balladeer s/n 144 needs a new neck. Guess I just have a soft spot for orphan guitars with shiny back sides. oh, don't get me started....peace mike |

in a twisted sort of fate, I will be in Ct. for the winter. instead of lots of sunshine, pretty girls on every street corner, skiing, microbrews, endless hiking and general lunacy, I now look forward to a long dark winter, senior citizens on every corner, crappy skiing, liquor stores that close at 8pm, limited hiking and puritan mentality for a long bitter winter.
of course, it really could be alot worse. I do have my health and guitars. as Richard Nixon said, "You can't appreciate the highs without being down in the depths" or something like that. (don't get me wrong, Ct. is great for alot of reasons- but my little corner of colorado is heavenly). Did I say my dog stinks and I can't get rid of the smell?.mike |
