OK I put a bid on this (the legend linked above) and have reached the reserve. Hopefully no one will outbid me at the last minute as usually happens!

You might message roundback. He's a member here, maybe the two of you can work something out so you're not bidding against each other.

P4F:
That guitar is easily worth $450 - $500.

Learn to play the eBay game and don't get out bid at the last moment. Wait unitl 2 minutes before the auction ends and place a bid for the top price that you will pay. Remember that the final auction price may be well below what you bid.

Thanks for the post but I know all that. It just seems like even when I bid last minute there is almost always one person out of the millions who will win the bid by $5 above me. Just happened the other day on a nice 1758.Which is why I posted here in the first place..I thought maybe someone would sell one outright without the ebay B.S.

Roundback,if your listening..I know you have a ton of O's;I see you bidding all the time. Maybe you just don't need this one? Pretty please?

Try sending him a PM through the directory.

EDIT:
better still, send him a message through ebay. Click on his member id and then on "contact member" on the right hand side.

Well what do you know,I won the bidding at the reserve of $400. I'll find out in a few days if it's the good deal I think it is.

I came, I read, I considered.... I didn't get in a bidding duel for it. (I am roundback on eBay, not the Roundback on the OFC.) Whoever won that auction got a fine deal, imho.

Well I got the guitar but unfortunatley I'm not too happy. Although it looks like it's had very little play time (strings are ancient, there's some oxidation on the frets) it also seems that it was stored at full string tension and the top has sunk. The fret board is strait until the neck joint ,then it drops 1/8'' from there to the last fret. Doesn't effect playability (I mean who plays that high on a 12 string?)but I believe it does affect the value and it's not how the guitar was advertised. I emailed the seller asking to either take it back or at least give a partial refund. He told me he didn't realise it because he never plays it (although it's very obvious),and asked how much of a refund. I told him I thought it was worth more like $200 to $250 with that much warping. That was yesterday and I haven't heard back. I'd like some of your opinions on this. Am I right in assuming this is basically (or not worth the cost) unfixable? The rest of the guitar is fine, neck joint is pretty tight and just a little bit of sound board hump beneath the bridge.

I think Paul has outbid me on a few Ovations, yet I have one of his old Balladeers. Small world.

I have bought at least six guitars, as well as a G-B amp, from Paul. Even checked out what guitars he was bidding on to see what he thought could be good deals. Latest purchase is the Custom Elite that should be here by Friday.

Never been disappointed in dealing with him.

Hi i'm brand new to this club. What do you other members think of the Applause 12 string. I know they didn't make a lot of them, but i gotta say i have a 70's applause aa14-4 w/ the aluminum fretboard and i love it. Is the 12 string applause worth having? Thanks

A friend of mine has had an Applause 12 string that is an excellant player for many years and has served him well. He also has a mess of kids that are in their "high maintenence" years so he won't be buying anything for a while.

Welcome!

I'd like to see a close up of this problem guitar of yours. Can you email me a picture (a side shot)?
