By it's overall looks and the sticker inside the body it's a typical AA14, the strange thing is, that the shape of the headstock is totally different to the one you're expecting on such a guitar. It looks more like an Ovation headstock than an Applause's. I can't find a picture of an AA14 with this kind of headstock anywhere, but I found this forum, so my hopes are now on you. Anyone who knows anything about an Applause AA14 with an Ovation-like headstock?

I suppose there must have been a logo on the headstock, but it was scratched off by (one of) the previous owner(s). You can still see the missing varnish on the top.

If it's tinkered, as you assume, then the work was done quite properly.

You could also look up the model in the reference section of this site and find out when they were made.

Thank you all for your responses, that's really fantastic! @standing: you caused me to try again finding out how to post a picture - I think I got it now (see below). @Jonmark: looking through the various Matrix brochures on Jerome's site, I found out, that the Applause AA14-1 looks quite similar to the Matrix 1637-1 except from the missing pickguard and the soundhole binding. By considering this, the body of my guitar is definitely an AA14. So it becomes more and more likely that Mark is right, and somebody has tinkered a Matrix neck to an Applause body. @Paul: that's not a tape over the logo, but rather, as I already wrote, somebody scratched the logo off, and what you see is the remaining hole in the top layer of the varnish.
