| Ok so, A few months ago I got my hands on a slightly moisture damaged 1990. What a mess!
Anyway, a few of the edges of the fret were
sticking slightly up off of the fret board and binding. Mainly due to shrinkage and swelling.
I tried to press the frets back down but they
weren't budging, and there really isn't any fret
buzz to speak of. Yet on occasion the high E string
would get caught under the edge of one of the frets.
So...how do you fix this without refretting the entire guitar?
Well, I cheated! I took some JB weld equivalent, mixed it up and pressed it under the edges of the frets in question.
I waited for the stuff to cure and harden and then filed it smooth.
And now none of the strings get snagged on the fret edges.
Quick and easy fix!
Except now, I damaged the piezo messing with the bridge! I do however have a set of American Tele pickups I could install in this thing LOL! |
