You missed out. I've already sold 2. Both honeybursts. Make me an offer I shouldn;t refuse and maybe you can own a GP. I'm not saying...I'm just saying...

I made the mistake of selling mine once, and within two months I needed to buy another. It's not that I play it that much, but it's just a fun guitar to play when I do. I also have it ready in the studio in case someone needs a "rocker" and an introduction to Ovation solidbodies.

I know miles, you sold it to me. Then I sold it to pay for my black one (I had two honeybursts at the time). Then I got a great offer for my other honeyburst so I let it go too. Went to a super cool guy that I'm still in touch with so, I'm glad it found a new home. Then I found a wine one and bought that (from excey here on the board). My goal was to have one in each color. The irony being that now the only color I don't have is honeyburst.

I say its a korean ultra GP..I quickly bought it..Its a sunburst all original with original pick ups....BTW, its for sale!! e-mail me if interested samova@aol.com

Hello all,
Forgive my ignorance, but I have a Ultra and wonder what the "GP" means in these post? I am not sure if what I have and what you guys are talking about are the same guitars. Can someone educate me?

Thanks,

Bill

GP stands for "Guitar Paul" as in Les Paul. It's an offset double cutaway solid body with a set neck.

Mr. Ovation, my viper is natural with a black pic guard, if you have one please let me know, thanks. Ickygoo, yes I bought the GP from Future, as far as the 'apples and oranges comment, I definately prefer the fuller sound of a Les Paul, or a guitar similar to it over a Strat, I hope that this comment will clear that up for you.

Hey Dusty,
Whatcha actually asking. I have a Natural with Black Pickguard, and it's on eBay at this time. Are you just looking for a pickguard (a popular item)? Not sure I have a black one, I'll have to check.

johnny,

Go to the members gallery and look under my photos (ickygoo). I have 3 of my GP's in a photo. The GP was a set neck guitar. Much like a Les Paul only the body is wider and longer with a 2nd cutaway. The GS is a more common solidbody of the era. It was a bolt on strat copy. GP stood for Guitar Paul. GS stood for Guitar Strat. GS's are worth between $100 - $300 usually. GP's are high in demand because of Josh Homme of Kyuss / QOTSA. He brought them to everyone's attention.

I am also from Australia, and also looking for a GP, and not not because Josh from QOTSA has one, but because they look so good and are exactly what i am looking for in a solid body electric, i really hope some of you guys can help me, have been looking for one for about a year or more and with no luck.

Barry,

Keep the faith man. Took me almost 3 years to get my first GP. Also keep in mind they're going for a pretty penny these days. If you find one expect to pay a fair amount for it.

I'm sitting at home right now with a big grin on my face. I just walked out of my local music shop with a Black GP1....for under $300. It's not in the greatest condition, but it plays great and sounds great, looks real nice next to my sunburst model too.

Any one who is searching for one of these....keep your eyes peeled!! They do pop up every once in awhile. I almost walked out of the store with out seeing it, before I heard someone mutter "Ovation Solid-body??? eeeessh!". At that point I walked over, picked it up and said "I'll take it!"

The Sunburst model I found at a yard-sale for $250....but that was back in 1989.

GP stands for "Guitar Paul", GS stands for "Guitar Strat" as in the designs. There is also an acoustic/electric Ultra.

Check eBay, there was one (I think) posted there a few hours ago with a starting price of $379.

I'd bid on it, except that I just won a black UK II !!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Oh, happy happy happy!

If anyone know of a GP for sale anywhere in the world please contact me at squire@jerseymail.co.uk
I have searched for ages, emailed every Ovation dealer in the country, but still no luck.
There are supposed to be some around in a certain area but I wasn't told which shop.
Any information would be welcome.
Thanks
