Joined: December 2002 Posts: 584 Location: atlanta | My daughter, Kaki King, just lost her 1587 in a Brooklyn burglary. She's a young pro, and got her chops mostly on the 1587. Check her out at: http://www.rosebudus.com/king/index.html That's the 1587 in the b&w pic. So, yes I'm in the market for a legal one. Are there later Adamas models like the 1587? The deep bowl is part of her technique/sound (lots of alternate tunings). Thanks. It's also been rumored that they take a look at this webpage every now and then. Also, if you want to find an older Adamas for your daughter, go to Al's webpage. His business, Vintage Instruments has several.

I just downloaded some of her MP3’s at http://artists.mp3s.com/artist_song/1412/1412605.html Her dad said she used a 1587 on all the cuts. With her left hand over the top style, Ovation needs this girl playing an Adamas more than she needs an Adamas to play! Mike

It was a way to treat unknowns and up and commers as endorsees if they were deemed to be "of value and influential" to Ovation sales. Use that term when talking to someone "at the company"

I only joined the fan club yesterday, and everyone's prompt response was a bit unexpected, but believe me, very much appreciated. I don't know what I would do if something happened to my old guitar. Geez, I don't even want to think about it.

The company immediately agreed to provide her with a suitable temporary replacement guitar as a professional courtesy. She'll be using the guitar this weekend at her gigs at the Mercury Lounge in NYC. http://www.mercuryloungenyc.com/ I'll post again when Kaki decides on a permanent replacement. Thanks again to all of you for your encouragement, and generous thanks to a wonderful company for coming to her rescue. David King

Anything's gotta be better than GoatBoy with the chain-link fence in his face! I wish I didn't have a gig this weekend. I'd like to go to the Mercury and check her out.

This is the type of person Ovation needs to be seeking out and contacting for endorsements. Wonderful pics.

Joined: October 2002 Posts: 51 | I'm a bit lost here. David said he wanted to buy an Adamas 1587 or similar one. Now everything seems fine when Ovation agrees to get his daughter a guitar? Is Ovation getting her a 1587? If not, a newer model like 1597 or W597? If Kiki could go to expensive, private University like NYU ($40,000+/year cost), it seems strange that she or her dad could afford a decent Ovation like Legend (could be had for $650-700 through mail order). If she is good, she could do wonders even with a Korean's made Ovation. If David really wanted to buy an old Adamas, Al has quite a lot for sale. Al was right, if David were a good dad, ... On second thought, I think David is a good dad. Ovation will receive thousands of requests for guitars from now on :-)
