Bobbo has raved about these strings for a while so I finally put a set on my OFC2 this weekend.

WoW

I'm not sure they are for every guitar I have cause I really like the D'Addarios but on the OFC2 they really sing out!

Great suggestion Bobbo. I would recommend that everyone who likes to try something new to give them a try on their next string change.

I never did and still don't like D'Addarios. I'll give these a try.

My distributors don't carry them. As much as I hate to do it, I guess I'll have to order some from...ACK! I can't say it!...that place!

I'll second that emotion...

Just put a set of these on my 1778T. Very good strings.

So if you've got the notion, try 'em...

Notes on the back of the box from when they were on my 2080 "nice sound, low tension". You may need a truss rod tweak to reduce fret buzz due to the lower tension.

Hey T-Jim, have you tried the DAdarrio EXPs also? I wasn't impressed with the regular DAs but after trying out the EXPs I have been very satisfied with their performance.

Yeah, I like Elixir's much better, but they're more expensive.

Tried the sunbeams, nice but sounded a bit thin on my Legend and too bright for my UTE (for me anyway) I like the EJ16s for the legend and have gone back to the JPearce Silk/Bronze for the ute. Nice but not the right mix for my ear and gits.

Yeah, the Sunbeams are great. I get mine from juststrings.com for about six bucks a set on average. Round wound and compression winding gives them lots of ring and sustain. They are lower tension than a lot of strings ... go with the mediums (13s) and they'll feel like lights. They're not perfect for every guitar but they work real well on most Ovations.

I went with lights and I agree they almost seem too thin (almost electric) to the touch. They sound really good but I bet the mediums have an even fatter sound.

Bobbo,
I am going to try the (13s). Has anyone tried these on the Adamas?

Stephen, did you get them online? I looked at the local music shops Saturday (when I bought my Hercules stand) and they were out or just didn't carry them.

I think it would be hard to find a set of strings that did not sound good on the OFC II...it is hands down the finest Ovation/Adamas product I have ever played...my Martins do not sound any better (but no Brad, the '48 still is not for sale...lol)...I'll have to try a set of these...

Mike (Capoguy): I just ordered a few sets of the eliptical to try out.

Has anyone compared the Sunbeams to the DR "RARE"s?

Shucks, Mike. About strings, our bass player suggested that I switch from steel to nickel as a means possibly of reducing some of the snap and pop I sometimes experience through the amp. I still think its static electricity due to Colorado's really dry winter environment and the carpeted riser on which we play. Anybody hear of this before? I'm now spraying the place with water to see if that helps.
