Was restringing two of my guitars yesterday and realised as I looked through some old/new sets of strings (that is new sets that I've had to dip into during a gig when I've broken a string) that almost consistently I break G and B strings!! I have numerous sets of strings with all other strings intact except for G and B strings. What about you - which strings do you break most often and why do you think that is so. It must be something to do with my strum/style of playing that I hit this area of the guitar harder???
The title of the topic comes from a recent gig where I broke a string and in order to excuse the delay while I changed gutiars, I stupidly said into the mike "please excuse while I change my G string" :) Got the biggest clap/applause of the night!!! |

Breaking the B and G strings are not common (IMHO). |

Location: NJ | I used to conTINually break either D or G strings at gigs (at LEAST one of each per night). Since I was predominantly playing rhythm, I was using a Thin(ish) pick, and really "flailing" at the strings to get the volume.
I've since gone to Medium(from Light) strings, gone to a bit heavier pick, raised th'GuitarVolume a bit and changed my PlayingStyle a bit so I'm not playing "so hard" and geting the same amount of "volume".
I'm now getting at LEAST three-four gigs out of a full set of strings w/o breaking one. |
