I just went with the "gig bag" and have all that stuff in it as well as a condenser mic and a book light and a couple of tools for tweeking and changing strings. The rule is never take any of this stuff out at the house, that way you don't have to think going out the door and you never get "suprised" at a gig.

I have not had this problem in a long time with the acoustics as all my gigging guitars are cutaway's now, so I have just enough space to roll my strap up and tuck the strap lock inside the center of the roll and tuck it in the crook of the cutaway. I roll my 25' Whirlwind up and put that under the headstock and my tuner, capo, picks, cough drops and an extra pack of strings fit in the storage compartment. This way I have a complete unit all in one. My carry bag is full of exrta stuff now like Lead cords, 4 way plug, exra instrument cords, extra strings, batteries, microphones, mic cables. etc. I also have grown into two additional bags for the band stuff as well. I wish I could find an easier way to keep them all seperated. I do fairly well as I pack carefully but there ain't nothing like being in a hurry and grabbing the wrong cord and you have a tangle that takes 20 minutes to roll everything all back into the nice bag fitting size. Anyway,, welcome to the mother of inventions lessons in guitar ownership and regular travel and constant use. You'll find your own way of doing things soon enough.... I remember the days when all I worried about was if I wanted to hang them or keep them in the cases.

It can't be destroyed. Because I use only two cases for an assortment of guitars, its easier to keep the straps in one gig bag than keep moving them in and out of carrying cases.

It is sort of a messenger type with a flap and holds a ton of stuff in a bunch of little pouches and zippered areas. It's old, soft, and tough, so I don't worry about wear marks and it will probably last as long as I need it to.

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 1634 Location: Warren,Pa. | I got one of the new ultra lite Ovation cases which has LOTS of room inside the storage compartment PLUS 3 large zipper compartments on the outside. I carry an XLR cable, 1/4" cable, thick, wide strap, lead sheets...everything right there in the case. Here:http://cgi.ebay.com/Ovation-Zero-Gravity-Foam-Core-Acoustic-Case-Shallow_W0QQitemZ360175629216QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar_Accessories?hash=item53dc23f3a0#ht_1022wt_941 I know this is for a shallow bowl, but deep ones are available also.
