I bought a Zi8 today, along with a nifty bracket that allowed me to mount it on the peghead of my guitar. Here's the result:
Linus and Lucy on my LAV Koala .

Thats a nifty gadget, a great tune and well played.

Linus and Lucy is on my LONG list of tunes to learn.

The LAVs in Open D tuning right? But is it tuned down further, to CGCEGC or some such, sounds low...

Neat gadget! How much does one of those babies cost?

And you did a really nice job on the song!

Nice job with "Somewhere," too. I hope your friend is feeling better and has a full recovery.

$200 and change for the camera, $15 or so for the memory chip. The bracket cost me $18 at a specialty camera store.

Very cool. The video is better than the Zoom Q3, but the built in mic isn't. But it has a jack for a stereo mic, so you can get much better audio. Do some more vids.

Interesting and fun to watch.

But am I missing something - if you recorded pic with a camera, and the sound with a Zoom H2, how did you co ordinate the two recordings ?

I am eager to try this - hope you can point me in the right direction

Thanks for a great YouTube addition

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone.

To merge the video with the audio, I loaded them into some video editing software that I ended up with a while back (can't remember what its called...It came with some hardware that I bought). I also used that to add the titles and such.

To sync it up, I just slapped the top of the guitar really hard to get a sharp spike in the audio. From there, its a fairly simple matter of sliding the audio track into position in the editing software.

Nice stuff.

I'm bummed that you had to do it with two pieces of equipment tho. I thought that technology had caught up to what I have been wanting.

Yeah, I wish Kodak had the sense to put some halfway decent stereo mics in the Zi8.

For reference, here is an example recorded just with the internal Zi8 mic . For YouTube purposes, it really is fine. Although I think the real answer here is to use the 1/8" stereo input jack on the Zi8 with a decent mic.

Can you put up a pic or link for the clip on tripod you used?
