Question one:does anyone else out their own a k1111 reissue and what do you think of it? Question two: What can you tell me about the Glen Campbell reissue and does any have one they might want to sell? Have a great day, my friends! |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Both outstanding guitars. To my opinon they do not sound different enough to warrant owning both ... Wait a minute, did I say really that?
Seriously, I would say the following. The K1111 is sonically a spot-on copy of the original balladeers. It sounds exactly the same. The GCRI, different story. The RI sounds MILES better than any original GC Artist bowl guitar. I am completely blown away by it. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I had been PMing another member about K1111 RIs last week. I really like mine. It has a very crisp, even tone, just a bit on the bright side, which is what I associate with the traditional Ovation sound. The guy I was talking to had a 1111 already and liked the sound of his old one better than a new K1111RI that he tried in a store. Possibly a difference due to the aging of the top? Don't know.
I haven't tried a GCRI, and wouldn't be interested for the reason Dave just mentioned--not enough difference from the K1111RI. A few months ago I came to the realization that with 17 Ovations, I'm having a hard time telling the difference in sound between some of them. |

I also had the K1114, and unlike the Balladeer which I loved, I thought the K1114 sounded very stale and dead compared to a real Josh White. |

As Mark mentioned, I've been looking at a new K1111RI that's hanging in a local music shop for $1250.00. It has a low two digit serial number, one-something, and has been hanging there for a couple of years. About a year ago I took my '72 1111-4 and did an A-B comparison. Even the salesman remarked that my old Balladeer sounded much better. The frets on the K1111RI were protuding from the fretboard which tells me the guitar needed moisture and it also had the original strings. I suspect that with new strings and a couple of months in a case with a humidifier the outcome of the comparison might be different. The K1111RI is a BEAUTIFUL guitar; pretty enough that I considered adding to my collection even though I already had a great old Balladeer (and I still haven't given up the idea).
I'm glad to hear your enjoying your K1111RI and good luck in your search for a Glen Campbell RI.

Location: SoCal | I've got a GC RI and love it. Doesn't have as much depth as my Legend (both are A braced) and not as much volume, but it has a remarkably warm tone, plenty of bass (I love it in drop D tuning) and a nice clear treble.
Oddly, when I got it, it didn't have a very bright tone. I finally realized that the saddle was very low and brought it up, making a small adjustment to the neck. Now it's got a great full tone.
I don't know why they didn't sell more than they did. I see them, every once in a while, in Guitar Centers going for about a grand. Then they're gone again..... |

Location: Tennessee | I bought a K-1111 reissue when they were being blown out FRG. I like that guitar a lot. Great sound, great playability. But in the end, I don't think they ended up making very many. Does anyone know how many actually went out the door? I heard a rumor that is was around 50 each. |
